Shep showed a dead body along the freeway. How low can you go to grandstand? Things are bad in N.O., but he didn't have to show it.

I have NEVER liked Shep, but these last 2 days leave me nearly speechless. He was awful yesterday, and today I've just stayed away from the tv after this a.m.
The fact is that Shep was down there before the storm even hit.
And to think that I thought FR would be a welcoming spot.
I almost wish they would go back to Sheehan in Crawford or Greta in Aruba.
Yikes.
Maybe so, Mike, but there's nothing like an evangelist to stir the masses. Shep just might light a fire under the right people and get these folks the help they need.
I agree with you to a certain point but I do believe Shep is grandstanding. All the reporters are like that now. They have gone beyond reporting the news to acting like a bunch of gossips. I guarentee you, Shep is loving every minute of this.
Many were there days before the hurricane hit. I know Shep was.
I am shocked and horrified to read this. Is this true? I didn't think anyone had died yet.
One nice long slow pan of the dead laying about in the streets could be used as B-roll the next time a Cat-4 rolls in---far fewer would decide to try to tough it out on the ground in the path of a hurricane. Kinda like a visual version of asking the recalcitrant for next of kin.
Sadly, that is Fox News in a nutshell.
This is not the way American is supposed to be. I can not believe this. Call congress, call the President. Someone must do something.
Well, it is rather hard to be welcoming to someone who accuses another of not knowing what is going on, when the accuser has no idea if the statement is true or not. And even more difficult when the rest of us know the statement is not true.
In addition, lots of organizations (I may even have gotten this from the feds) recommend you keep at least $500 in cash on hand at home if it's economically feasible for you to do so. That way you can at least get out of town if the ATMs all go dead.
You are right... something seems terribly amiss.
We got to see a cop not respond to a journalist. Look, if you think a journalist's reception from law enforcement indicts the cop's probable response to citizens? That is your call. I refuse to make that leap.
BTW, I haven't said a word one way or the other if not all cops are responding to citizens. I'm not there. But in THIS instance that wasn't shown. All I saw was a cop doing a job and Shep demanding he stop and talk to him. Show the cop ignoring citizens pleading for help, then we have another story.
When he wishes that he could view Aruba and Cindy SHeehan, other than Shep Smith reporting dead bodies in NOLA, I am supposed to think that he knows what is going on?
There was actually a story out today that Fats Domino is missing, along with several other music folks (I didn't reconize their names). The Neville family did get out tho.

Sorry to disagree but Brit was suffering that fool Cindie Sheehan just fine on the news last night. Even showed a "touching" moment between her and that insufferable twit Al Sharpton.
Thanks. I certainly don't want to be guilty of armchair quarterbacking.
;-)
They are sitting back and letting people die. This is exactly what they are doing. If news people can get in so can rescuers with food and water. I feel so sorry for these poor people. I am sorry if I was President Bush, I would send in troops....Blanco be damned.
