Ten Year Old Arrested for Giving Food to Terri Schiavo Apologizes

Joshua's arrestTAMPA BAY, August 31, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Ten year-old Joshua Heldreth, the eldest of eight children, was arrested on Good Friday of this year for trespassing while attempting to bring a drink of water to Miss Terri Schaivo.  Days later Schiavo died of intentional dehydration.  In court Joshua pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 25 hours of community service and ordered to write an apology for his actions.

The boy whose arrest photo was splashed on front pages of newspapers across the nation wrote in his apology letter, "I was arrested on Good Friday for trespassing on the hospice center's property . . . Not giving Mrs. Shiavo (sic) food or water was wrong.  The reason I had to go on your property was because Jesus would do the same thing.  It made me sad that she was so thirsty and it made Jesus sad too.  I knew she would die without water and I am called by Jesus to be a defender of the defenceless.  So I had to go on your property to try to bring her a drink."

Joshua added, "I am sorry that you didn't like that and wouldn't allow me to help save her life and one day you will have to tell God why.  I won't be able to help you then like I tried to help her. I will pray for you every day . . ."

LifeSiteNews.com caught up with Joshua's father Scott Heldreth today.  Scott told LifeSiteNews.com he is very proud of his son.  "My son has amazed me through this whole thing," said Heldreth.  The proud father said it was his son's own initiative to attempt to give the starving woman a glass of water, and despite the warning of his parents that he'd be arrested, the boy insisted.  "He was the one who begged us to go down, because he wanted to give her a glass of water . . . We explained that police will never let you help . . . you'll be arrested, but he went anyways."

Pro-life leader Rev. Flip Benham of Operation Save America told LifeSiteNews.com that the whole pro-life movement shares Heldreth's pride in his son.  Benham recalls the reaction of Heldreth on Good Friday as he watched his son being arrested: "When that all took place Scott was weeping, this father was weeping tears of joy seeing his son not only talk the Christian talk but walk the walk."

While the apology letter has been submitted, Heldreth told LifeSiteNews.com he's not completely sure it will be accepted.

Since we were as I said all instant friends, we took care of each other as we would for our own families, would warn and alert others to the nasty tricks.

I believe the media's wait was not much different than ours. I think they were wondering where Jeb was too. They were pacing and on their cells or charging their cells. I used to sit by the MSNBC tent. Hannity would show up at dusk, do his show prep and afterwards spend hours after his show in the Thrift Store w/the family.

Glenn snuck in once for a private mtg with the family. Demonizing Michael was part of the plan. Glenn concentrated on demonizing Michael and I don't think he ever said an unkind word about Judge Greer. (can't demonize CC shareholders - even if they are corrupt killers).

When I left one of the vigils, there was a fellow just standing at the traffic light. I never saw him cross the street. I wonder now if he was watching us to see what car we went to, or maybe to see our reaction if our car was towed. As it happened, we went over to McDonald's and got a burger and my car was parked there too. My car didn't get towed.

Yeah, McDonalds. You deserve a break today. Everything at that intersection has been bulldozed except McDonalds and there's a new CVS and Walgreens going up across from McDonalds. The Hospice side of the street at 102nd has been bulldozed too except for the bank.

McDonalds wasn't stupid. There was probably a big spike in their business. They were the closest fast food place.

Now that's interesting. Of course, euthanasia has been with us for decades. It's a great solution to fixing the Social Security pyramid scheme. I think this could be a factor in the way government behaved. We have to calmly realize that the government no longer reflects our beliefs in many different areas.

Political Point? I'm disgusted with your attitude

Well, I guess I'm going to have to just learn to live with that.

I called it a political point because nobody actually thought this kid was going to go in and give Terri water. It's not like he had any chance at all to save her. So, this idea that he was going to go in and save her life just isn't true - he may have wanted to do so, but I don't think there's anyone here who thought he was actually going to do so. So maybe I should be more specific and add that he was making a moral point in addition to a political point. Fine distinction though - in this case, the moral point is also a political point - by his actions, he's attmepting to convey that the law as it stands now is immoral. And if this boy really actually thought that he would be able to go in the hospital and give Terri water, his parents should have at least known the truth of the situation. But they let him go anyway? Why? Well, clearly it wasn't to save Terri - unless you really believe that a 10-year-old boy would be allowed into the hospital to see her and administer care. So they were making a point. Sorry if that's offensive to you, but that's the way I see it.

Yes, the anti-Terri Centonze died in the company of Michael R. Schiavo over Labor Day weekend 2004.

I haven't seen Just Like Heaven but I got a regular email from Tom Delay's office. I have no idea why. I guess I'm on his e-newsletter. I was just bashing him here yesterday. Maybe Delay's trying to drum up support for future endeavors. I got another email from Jeb's office too. Is the GOP trying to test who they can count on for 2006, 2008 or something? Better late than never, I guess.

I SUPPORT KATHERINE HARRIS FOR U.S. SENATE AND TOM GALLAGHER FOR FLORIDA GOVERNOR and I think Curt Weldon's great. So is Dr. Dave Weldon, U.S. House. None of them are RINOS.

Even if Joshua had help with the actual wording, it's apparent that the sentiment is his. If his apology is 'not accepted,' it will be quite apparent who is the better man. 10-year-old saint...

As sure as I am typing this, I know that the monster in gold chains and his concubine, children bred as Terri lay without even the merest of comforts, and everyone else who conspired to end her life will meet their just rewards as our Father promises.

Our Father owns revenge.

And they all have much to fear.

Terri did not die on the date the infamous and cruel michael schiavo the 'small' has carved into her tombstone.

No.

She did not die the day he beat her up she collapsed, she died many days after schiavo and his cabal began starving and denying her water. That is her true date of death.

Terri can no longer be threatened, taunted, denied sunshine, denied therapy, denied ANYTHING by that control freak...she is with our Father, and her joy now is endless. Micahel cannot touch her anymore, he will have to seek out other victims to taunt and thrust his hungry anger and hate against.

A perfect innocent.

And woe to those who crushed her. Our Father is just!

A new way to call CONGRESS. If they pass a federal law to allow people to EVACUATE WITH THEIR PETS, then they can pass a FEDERAL BAN ON STARVING-DEHYDRATING HUMAN BEINGS when there is no written directive (and only crooked judges running the show).

FEDERAL LAWS TO PERMIT PET EVACUATIONS BEING CONSIDERED:

I very much enjoyed the movie, "Just Like Heaven" - and the pro-life surprise was icing on the cake.
