TAMPA BAY, August 31, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Ten year-old Joshua Heldreth, the eldest of eight children, was arrested on Good Friday of this year for trespassing while attempting to bring a drink of water to Miss Terri Schaivo. Days later Schiavo died of intentional dehydration. In court Joshua pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 25 hours of community service and ordered to write an apology for his actions.
The boy whose arrest photo was splashed on front pages of newspapers across the nation wrote in his apology letter, "I was arrested on Good Friday for trespassing on the hospice center's property . . . Not giving Mrs. Shiavo (sic) food or water was wrong. The reason I had to go on your property was because Jesus would do the same thing. It made me sad that she was so thirsty and it made Jesus sad too. I knew she would die without water and I am called by Jesus to be a defender of the defenceless. So I had to go on your property to try to bring her a drink."
Joshua added, "I am sorry that you didn't like that and wouldn't allow me to help save her life and one day you will have to tell God why. I won't be able to help you then like I tried to help her. I will pray for you every day . . ."
LifeSiteNews.com caught up with Joshua's father Scott Heldreth today. Scott told LifeSiteNews.com he is very proud of his son. "My son has amazed me through this whole thing," said Heldreth. The proud father said it was his son's own initiative to attempt to give the starving woman a glass of water, and despite the warning of his parents that he'd be arrested, the boy insisted. "He was the one who begged us to go down, because he wanted to give her a glass of water . . . We explained that police will never let you help . . . you'll be arrested, but he went anyways."
Pro-life leader Rev. Flip Benham of Operation Save America told LifeSiteNews.com that the whole pro-life movement shares Heldreth's pride in his son. Benham recalls the reaction of Heldreth on Good Friday as he watched his son being arrested: "When that all took place Scott was weeping, this father was weeping tears of joy seeing his son not only talk the Christian talk but walk the walk."
While the apology letter has been submitted, Heldreth told LifeSiteNews.com he's not completely sure it will be accepted.

have a nice weekend. thanks for bumping the thread.
dear tbritton, my source is in charge of grants at Ruth Eckerd Hall, Marcia P. Hoffman Institute. I don't NEED to share that information but I will. Now, everyone get off your high horses. Did any of you people give a thought to the matter that floriduh voter is actually a human being? knock it off, children.
Thank you for the troll alert. The Terri trolls are most annoying.
I am happy to welcome a new poster (including a self-described "liberal") to FR, regardless of gender, race, age, religion, creed, national origin, or political orientation. That, it seems to me, is why it's called "Free Republic." If a liberal chooses to post on a notably conservative discussion board, that's their decision, not mine. Thusfar, I've not seen Radh make one single post which has not been both fact-based and noncontentious...s/he has, in point of fact, conducted him/herself far more reasonably, calmly, and appropriately than have most of the longterm FR posters who have responded to him/her, who appear (not unlike the Wicked Witch of the West) to be
MELTING
just at the very whiff of the word "liberal." I'm far less interested in labels than I am in vibrant discussion.
Labels don't matter to me at all; YMMV.
Liberals and buddies make great late night snacks.
I thought I would help you out with the link you were looking for:

You've shared nothing, other than a gratuitous and unconfirmed "job title-drop."
Now, everyone get off your high horses. Did any of you people give a thought to the matter that floriduh voter is actually a human being?
Exaggeration and misrepresentation are uniquely human actions. There is absolutely no doubt as to your status as a "human being."

radh has been banned or suspended...he/she didn't last long
good, I got on here to catch up and saw we had a troll and was hoping they'd be gone by now, lol!!
Source link for the "buddy" claim? Or is this just another piece of whole cloth?
She stuck her nose into the Jessica Lunsford matter at her level.
Ginny Brown-Waite, U.S. Representative for the 5th congressional district of Florida, includes the Lunsford family (of Homosassa) among her direct constituents. If the Lunsford's own congresswoman shouldn't "stick her nose" into their "matter" (the murder of 9 year-old Jessica Lunsford, by a convicted violent sexual predator who had fallen through the enormously wide cracks of the sexual offender tracking system), then who in the world SHOULD "stick [their] nose" into it? Congresswoman Brown-Waite, with the full support of Jessica Lunsford's father and family, has proposed a federal bill which would require a specific and coordinated intra-national program for the identification, registration, and tracking of convicted, violent sexual predators. This is not just a Florida problem, it's a national issue (I'm sure you remember the horrible case of Shasta and Dylan Groene of Idaho...it's only been a few months since Shasta was found and Dylan's abused and murdered body was located), and such a coordinated national program (much like the Amber Alert program) is appropriately resident in the U.S. Congress.
Ginnie Brown-Waite stole her opponents' campaign signs.
Oh for crying out loud. During the 2002 campaign, Ms. Brown-Waite's husband stole some of her (democratic) opponent's campaign sign, and vandalized some others. Everyone can read about it here. The opponent, Congresswoman Karen Thurman, apparently didn't think it was worth pursuing (read about that here). It was 3 years ago. There is no evidence that Ms. Brown-Waite was involved in (or had any advance knowledge of) her husband's extremely poor behavior choice. Ms. Thurman (her opponent) seemed to manage to let go of it...several years ago, and never misrepresented the situation (as you have) that Congresswoman Brown-Waite was personally responsible for the theft of and vandalism to the campaign signs. But you want to keep chewing on it like a toothless old hound dog with a dried up bone? Okey-dokey. Whatever floats your boat.
She's another RINO.
I don't care if she's a Churkendoose. In regard to the Jessica Lunsford situation, she's doing exactly what she ought to be doing...bringing a national disgrace which directly affected one of her congressional district's constituents to the Congress, and asking for that full body to take the appropriate and necessary steps to try to prevent a reoccurrence in the future. I support her proposed bill to achieve a coordinated national tracking/monitoring system for convicted violent sexual predators, and I'd support that proposed legislation even if it had been initiated jointly by Hillary Clinton and Ted Kennedy. For the life of me, I can't imagine why anyone would oppose a national database, and improved tracking of, and vigilance with regard to, convicted violent sexual predators, but I'm sure you must have your reasons.
have a nice weekend.
I certainly will, thank you!
thanks for bumping the thread.
It was my pleasure. :-D
Cheeful morning bump. It is a great day a' dawning, a little rainy, nevertheless bright and sparkling.
The darkness and shadows of recent past are gone. Luv those kitties.

The headline is wrong! That was no apology but a rather intelligent response from a 10 year old boy. It gives me hope that one day as an adult, he will take my place and defend the rights of the American people. Strong men and women of conviction are springing up in the United Sates to take the places of those of us who love this land, her people and her laws.
