Culture and what they have been taught or not taught. There culture is racist as any other and more than most. When you are taught not believe in schools and that it is OK to steal because your ancestors have been oppressed and that you are entitled you are in fact racist. You need to spend a week in the hood and see how you are treated and what they really think.

They may be "more sensible", but the book they claim as their guidance declares a God that has killed [whole cities of] men, women, children, infants, unborn, cats, dogs, chickens, etc., for unrighteousness (basically, anything that goes against His rules). He has done it, and will do it again according to the book the "sensible" Christians claim as authoritative.

Whether what is happening in NO (or even this nation as a whole) falls into this category or not is not any mortal's judgment.. NOR is it their judgment that it is NOT. I would hope the antipathy toward the "doom and judgment" crowd on this board is for lack of decorum, not the message.

My nephew is Special Forces (National Guard), and they just got sent to NO (after performing similar anti-looters duty in Mississippi).

Quite the opposite. I've been asking the same question all damn day. "How is it relevant?" I believe it to be irrelevant--because it is.

Now, if they're born in abject poverty and/or their dad isn't around to raise them to be a man and/or their schools are disaster areas and/or their parent(s) are drug users and/or they face a disadvantage because some people look at them and see a criminal and/or their friends are thugs . . . .

If one or more of those things ARE true, it might help to explain criminal behavior. Morality is learned. What happens to the person with no one to teach them?
