There is a fire in a garbage shoot near gate A in the Super Dome in New Orleans. Radio traffic indicated the fire is in an area that is inaccessible, and that this garbage shoot extends up mutiple stories.
Those poor people inside - I keep praying for one little lady I saw interviewed on her way in several days ago, who said she was trusting in the Lord. Many prayers for her and all the good guys. I just feel sick.
I need to maintain a security presence for the firefighters.
they called the firemen off
"Tell the firemen to turn around and leave. We're not addressing the fire in the Superdome right now."
Airlift in a battalion, please.
Be Seeing You,
Chris
Supposedly the flights will resume after it's light enough to determine where the gunshots are coming from.
What kind of scum shoots helicopters carrying refugees? Just try to get your mind around that.
I'll bet they don't have any buckets handy.
Did you hear him say they are no longer interested in the SuperDome fire? Or did my feed scramble.
Thanks, Chris. I couldn't believe what I had heard.
that is what i heard
The bus driver would need to wear a respirator. Every one of those people needs a full bath, delousing, and clean clothes, especially underwear.
I once backpacked the length of Isle Royale National Park in northwestern Lake Superior. I didn't bathe for the five days of the hike and was absolutely vile by that time. By the end of the hike I was so desperate to get clean that I found a shallow bay, stripped, walked into it to the extent that I could stand the cold water, and took what amounted to a sponge bath. Never felt so good in my life.
The last few days for the people in the Superdome, with the terrific heat and massive buildup of human waste, had to be enough to make my Isle Royale hike look like a picnic. Each one of the people must be absolutely filthy, stinking, and desperately needing complete bathing and disinfection. The Texas National Guard ought to set up massive bathing and disinfection facilities outside of the Astrodome and require each of the "guests" to bathe and disinfect as he or she arrives, and before being allowed into the dome.
I had the same sick feeling when I saw the people lined up to go into the Superdome. I expected the storm to collapse it, I never thought about fire.
I pray for her again and again and again.
Fire controlled.
Con Air. (Not the hairdryers)
I did some work in corrections that involved deportations, the INS had (at the time) an old C-54 that had lock down rings for legirons on the seats.
Pray you are never in the situation these people are in right now. You might fall off your high horse.
That'll do. At least it wouldn't be too bad geting fresh air. Open up the cockpit windows and rear door for full flow.
Bump for the cube bound.
Some are there as victims of unfortunate circumstances. Others because of a long sreies of bad life decisions.
Oh agreed. But right now most of those people in the dome are just scared, hungry, hot, and terrified. I've seen crowds at Disneyworld rush the busses over far less. Lets try and have a little perspective and humanity here.
As for the looters and the thugs, shoot on sight and hang em up as an example of martial law. Part of the problem here is the authorities let it be known that all the rules were off, worst thing you can do in a disaster.
