The toilet facilities are overflowing with offal, there is no power, and the heat and stench are horrific.

Well, if they're butchering cattle in there ...

If one had enough stored food/water, weapons and ammo, and a plan or means to escape, your idea would be the way to go. Most folks in NOLA apparently had no concept of how deep the water would actually be if all the levees and pumps failed. There seemed to be a lot of overconfidence as well. "They always predict these big storms and it's really just a minor annotance because they miss us." Well, there are actually times when one is faced with a real worst case scenario. If you remember the initial reports on Monday, it appeared that New Orleans dodged the bullet. Not quite, sadly.

Or if looting and armed and refusing to drop the weapon, you at least get your wrist rapped.

Thank you, dread! You are quite correct - I should have said "sewage" or "human waste." That's one of great things about FR - there are some really knowledgeable folks out there who know the real details like exact word definitions. A tip of the hat to you! (Not being sarcastic, either.)

I told my wife, several days ago, putting thousands into the Superdome was a huge mistake because it could become an uninhabitable trap if the city flooded.

What were they thinking?

I say, roll a few CS gas canisters in.

I’d prefer to use CN.

So what's the story fellow FReepers? I slept for a couple of hours. Are other Media (MSM or otherwise) confirming this story of the shot soldier?

Good call. Seems clear that the shooting of the soldier is real. But oddly doesn't seem to be in the MSM headlines yet. Why?

Thanks for being a stand-up poster about all this. Humility is in short supply these days and is very refreshing to encounter.

Not to mention the dead, rotting bodies floating around. And the stench that will be taking over soon.

Myles O'Brien spent the last hour in a pi$$ing match with Haley Barbour. Oh and he did quickly mention the ops at the Superdome were suspended but didn't mention the soldier being shot.

I remember hearing them say the Superdome was not a shelter, repeated a number of times. They told people going to the Superdome it was a "refuge of last resort" and they should bring their own food and water.

There is an old phrase my parents used to say a lot...if we were in trouble to call them and they would come get us, (pause) hell or high water.
