And Shep was WRONG! There are military all over picking up survivors in large trucks, coast guard in boats, and helicopters rescuing people and he says the feds are not on the scene. Give me a break! He is grandstanding no matter what anyone says IMHO. Sick and tired of lies out of him and other members of the MSM press.
WWL has been showing pictures of all the Federal agencies helping -- shame Fox and others don't do the same, but that doesn't suit their agenda IMHO.
Police and volunteers use boats to rescue residents from a flooded neighborhood on the east side of New Orleans, Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005.
Since there are logistics involved in moving the President, I think he moved fairly quickly. I am sure Krauthammer knows this as well.
Earlier today he pointed out a National Guard dumptruck bringing a whole truckload of bottled water onto the overpass. Then he closed his piece tonight by saying there has been no water on the overpass for days. I don't know if he's lying or delusional, but he sure as heck isn't reporting the truth.
Perhaps this has already been mentioned on some threads, if so please excuse the repeat: Couldn't one or more of the abandoned or closed military bases be opened for these people? There are dorms, dining halls, medical, etc.
Get real PKM. Of course there is a massive rescue underway, but there are even more refugees. Shep is exactly correct, turn on the TV and you can see all the people wandering on the freeway, no info, nowhere to go, so migrating west across the bridge, desperately wandering. There are 100,000 refugees just in New Orleans. 100,000, and only 25,000 of those are in the dome. Both sides of the story have to be told, and in fact it is imperative that the negative side get out so pressure comes to bear to resolve it. And indeed, it will be a completely different situation in the morning, much better.
But this is no place for sugarcoating, and failure to do so WILL cost even more lives. Not a cliche this time. Shep is only 1 part of the story, but it is a very sad and dramatic one.
Nobody has been picking up the people on the I-10.
Look at them sitting there in teh blazing sun and nobody comes to their aid.
Yes, there are lots of rescues going on, but it is going to take a long time to rescue everybody.
No he isn't. He has earned my respect during this tragedy.
