President Bush: "We are dealing with one of the worst national disasters in our nation's history." Push has appropriated vast federal resources to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
78,000 people are currently in shelters. New Orleans evacuation continues. 10,000 additional National Guard troops have been called to service.
Hospitals are running low on supplies, and public health concerns include water borne disease, poor sanitation, food and drinking water contamination and shortages, mosquitoes, carbon monixide poisoning from electricity generators, lack of childcare, and the special needs of the elderly.

What was it, have Fox on?
oh..how much have you given to the effort so far Cafferty?
LOL! I loved that SP episode. We need an occasional laugh in these tough times (that is unless your Condi Rice, don'cha know?).
"Oh well I always wanted to start over somewhere.. with mountains. Library access in the country rules!"
And some place near a library no doubt! Prayers with you and all the many other people that left the South before it hit and are wondering what is left for you down there. Prayers that your loved ones and friends also made wise decisions and are safe. And hopefully you can spread some of your hope and optimisim to those around you that will need it.
freeper in need of housing, perhaps? Any idea how we can help?
Thank you. I hope to hear from them soon, as one of them is 92 and not well.
This is not going to stop for a long time.
There is no way for it to stop until there are few enough people left to survive on the supplies remaining in NO.
When I said way, way up thread last night that I believe this is worse than a nuke hitting N.O., I meant it.
CNN and the governors description JUST DON'T MATCH!!
Everyone in NO is talking about the shootings and the armed gangs, but the governor is trying to save her political posterior...
I can SEE the future when she claims victory for her and the Democrats leadership...
Well, then I guess you are all right about the fact that some of the people living out that way are a@@holes...too bad I'm one of the few people who wouldn't want her or anyone else shot for walking into a store and stealing a pair of shoes to walk in or a lifeboat to float in - after all she would be a looter, right? Funny how things work out that way, isn't it?
I'm sorry to hear about your friend's home in Jackson being wiped out. I wasn't aware that anyone lost their home in Jackson except for the elderly lady in Belhaven who had a tree fall on her house. Please tell your friend to post the information about his missing brother and sister at www.clarionledger.com. I live in an area that is about 200 miles from the Gulf Coast and New Orleans. We had hurricane-force winds here, but no real damage other than some missing shingles and a few downed trees. I don't need to be evacuated.

horrible
Agreed. Looters and other criminals MUST BE SHOT.
Insult? Who is insulting who? Give me a break.
Basically saying the entire country thinks Bush has blown this entire thing.
Cafferty is a complete ass.
They are really moving this story to suit their agenda.
Wonder if that is the demonstration they were talking about on WWL at the press conference?
Per WWL...
