President Bush: "We are dealing with one of the worst national disasters in our nation's history." Push has appropriated vast federal resources to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
78,000 people are currently in shelters. New Orleans evacuation continues. 10,000 additional National Guard troops have been called to service.
Hospitals are running low on supplies, and public health concerns include water borne disease, poor sanitation, food and drinking water contamination and shortages, mosquitoes, carbon monixide poisoning from electricity generators, lack of childcare, and the special needs of the elderly.

The unrest is spreading to Baton Rouge.
http://joshbritton.com/2005/09/01/baton-rouge-situation/
Expect the chaos to reach Houston and San Antonio as the busses of NO refugees arrive.
THIS SITUATION ABSOLUTELY SUCKS . . . unthinkable . . .
"I never thought I would hear US SPECIAL FORCES dispatched to protect a US HOSPITAL from US CITIZENS."
Might be drug addicts needing to stay close to a source.
Looters stealing food, xray machines, whatever, would have left.
innocent people in New Orleans are going to die because rescuers have to delay efforts to save them due to lawless thieves in the city
Maybe now city governments everywhere will realize the absolute cancerous effects of gangs in communities. It is these types causing these problems now.
They are no-good, worthless scum with no real humanity left in them when they are capable of doing what they are this sad situation. Rather that helping, they are still opportunistic shameless thugs and the more of them they get rid of now, the better.
lol!
Hospitals verifying radio contact.
WWL, the brain-dead governor is coming soon for a press conference. Yet another...

I'm dumbstruck. Is the Battle of New Orleans "on"?
That;s not fair I couldn't get the link to open... can you give it again?
Totally agree. But the air rescue is booming, the bus evac conveys started moving an hour ago, so we may be turning the corner.
Please stop. The rumors about Baton Rouge are just NOT TRUE. NONE of THEM!!! I am in contact with people in the area and they are seeing NONE of this.

With all due respect I think I disagree with you on to readership numbers today. Due to circumstances of this 'event', I think there is more news flying around here than a person just sitting and watching a single channel in his/her office could ever hope to get. If some is raw scanner news you could say it is public, but it is sometimes wrong and could get people needlessly concerned. Guess you could look at IP addresses on web servers over the next few weeks to see if that is case, however. Just my opinion.
