President Bush: "We are dealing with one of the worst national disasters in our nation's history." Push has appropriated vast federal resources to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
78,000 people are currently in shelters. New Orleans evacuation continues. 10,000 additional National Guard troops have been called to service.
Hospitals are running low on supplies, and public health concerns include water borne disease, poor sanitation, food and drinking water contamination and shortages, mosquitoes, carbon monixide poisoning from electricity generators, lack of childcare, and the special needs of the elderly.

Senator Landieu did it last night at a press conference -- blamed the lack of communications and hence lack of order on lessons not learned from 9/11, kept up her complaining for a few minutes.

Crowds swarming around buses on highway on FoxNews . . .
this is bad, bad, bad . . .
I just heard that story from Jeff Goldblatt on Fox - my nerves are shot & it's only 8:00 am!
The black people were pissed at Nagin. One lady said, "Nagin didn't do sh*t for us".
Some of us are listening to a live scanner and we are reporting what we hear to you all.
AMEN!
I can't get over what I'm hearing. Do we know if our NG is armed?
You are right, most were, but they flip back and forth. It started out with the video link in the dome when I was flippin' myself.

I will do that, Quix.
"The server is already full. Try again later."
Last year, I sent copies of all my info to a friend in Las Vegas. Good reminder to sent updated info.
No clue as the weapons status of "our" guys, but it's obviously a war zone . . . I hope they got what they need . . .
Scanner feeds...ahhh. Y'all rock. Bear with me. First cup of coffee this morning.
Quix suggested we look on the Thread Matrix thread and ask folks there about an emergency kit. I will try to go there later today.
Crowd needs to pushed away from gate A . . .
