President Bush: "We are dealing with one of the worst national disasters in our nation's history." Push has appropriated vast federal resources to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

78,000 people are currently in shelters. New Orleans evacuation continues. 10,000 additional National Guard troops have been called to service.

Hospitals are running low on supplies, and public health concerns include water borne disease, poor sanitation, food and drinking water contamination and shortages, mosquitoes, carbon monixide poisoning from electricity generators, lack of childcare, and the special needs of the elderly.

it is easier when you are on foot, don't have to obey traffic laws, directional signs, one-way restrictions, and can literally walk to your destination on foot with no traffic law impediments.

Howlin, maybe later we'll have time to sit down and have some coffee and fix the whole race thing.

Is nothing sacred?

Given that the powers that be have sold the lie that man is nothing more than a rat a pigeon or a rock . . .

No, to them, NOTHING is sacred/right/wrong/whatever EXCEPT as THEY decree it.

Plenty of freepers posted great ideas that would have been entirely able to be accomplished. Well before so many were dying.

The governor from Tennessee was on the first day and offered anything he could to help. How stupid was it to not think a second possible catastrophe was a possibility, and what did they think was going to happen to the bathrooms in the superdome anyway?

But no, they just kept sticking people in there.

It was horribly handled. My son with a merit badge in emergency preparedness could have done better than this governor. And I already know he has better public speaking skills at age 14 than she does.

Great, if they are not looters, I'm glad they made it to Houston. Otherwise, they should be prosecuted. The looting in New Orleans is awful.

We need to watch the Superdome situation tonight, though.

Don't think we're quite out of the woods there yet, even with the grown ups on the scene.

They are the only one not in total re-runs this time of night; don't watch if you don't want to know what is going on this hour of night.

What? You mean letting them run wild for fear of offending them isn't working?

It's not a RACE THING; it's a CIVIL societal thing; and their behavior is NOT acceptable to NORMAL, LAW-ABIDING people, period.

A ridiculous response.

In what way? You don't think it is relevant that the police are looting?

Well put.

The whole Southeast and the North east and the LEFT Coast. And the southern border and the northern border and Seattle . . . Goodness!

Thanks for your kind words, but I'm also the sleepiest -- gotta get in a couple hours of zzz's before it's time to take my little one to school. I'll be back with more updates from the Alexandria/Pineville area tomorrow.

Pleasant dreams to all!

Thanks, and I agree. There are many more fun places for alleged criminals to go - places right next to the dome - than the dome.

I'm wondering how many of these animals are the ones let loose from the jails.

Seriously, can we call in the Army or the Marines?

Is it nerve? Or liberal lawyers and so many of the so-called punks have been in the system so many times they know how to taunt the police, and the police... not all are bad, not all are good, either.

Maybe it looks to the poorest of the poor blacks that they were being left behind in some areas. Certainly they have had to find their own way out, no one even now, is coming to rescue them. If the water keeps on rising, their families are going to die and have died, up in attics, if they even had an attic. Maybe they are pissed off.

Are you saying two wrongs make a right?

Of course not. My point was that the looters are not preventing the cops from doing their jobs. The cops ARE the looters!
