President Bush: "We are dealing with one of the worst national disasters in our nation's history." Push has appropriated vast federal resources to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
78,000 people are currently in shelters. New Orleans evacuation continues. 10,000 additional National Guard troops have been called to service.
Hospitals are running low on supplies, and public health concerns include water borne disease, poor sanitation, food and drinking water contamination and shortages, mosquitoes, carbon monixide poisoning from electricity generators, lack of childcare, and the special needs of the elderly.

Very DU of you. If they were to be arrested at arrival, why did he lie about it on national TV? You've answered nothing, only sunk into the sludge of liberal name-calling. That is no surprise, since you excuse the false accusations about death in the Superdome by a thief: typically liberal.
'The folks on the Titanic sang "Nearer, My God, to Thee." '
Very good point.
This is why Texas is known as BIG.
Wow! That's even worse than what I thought. I say this photo pretty much says it all and should end any disagreement. Thanks for finding it.
True analogy. I'm so sorry. I was praying for you and have been praying for all now.
I resent that I ever valued your posts.
You have a thin skin. You have to stop and realize that many people are automaticaly associating lawlessness in NO with lawlessness on the bus ariving in Texas. You know what I am saying? Guys that are tipping over rescue boats and threatening rescuers who are trying to save children. Now maybe some us have jumped to some conclusions that are wrong when we have made this association. And we have not heard the story of each and every person on that bus. So maybe we got it wrong in some part. Maybe we should have even waited to learn more. But understand that some of us are really stressed by the mob stories comming out of NO in last couple of days. We are not too thrilled to think about those particular people getting out in the world and bringing such crime elsewhere.
Can I ask you if there is any condition or any situation that could find yourself in where you would prevent the rescue of children? I doubt it. Because you have to be truly evil to do something like that, and those that do are going to be just as evil with a warm bed and a full stomic. While some of those on that bus could very well be some of the mob crowd... It looks like many of them are just now poor and desperate people. And of course we all want to help people who have come to such a sad fortune.
In the begginng... I admit that I kind of thought of NO's as the red light distric of smut. But One thing I have learned from this(Rescue videos and such) is that there are so many thousands there that are sweet and good people. The kind I would like to sit on the porch swing and chat with.
Coming up on CNN more pictures of looting.
I swear, there are lots of lawyers who will justifiably burn in hell. So we've come to the point where we can't even care for and take in our neighbors, without potentially being sued. Regardless of the wisdom of taking in refugee families, this is so emblamatic of what is wrong with America, and what has gotten us into so many messes.
For those who have read Strauss and Howe's books "Generations" and "The Fourth Turning", this flood and what evolves from it may be the event that moves us into the period of crisis and resolution, where the ever increasing divisions are confronted by a crisis that forces us to move one way or the other.
Quit pimpin' CNN already.
Maybe you haven't heard but the police are among those doing the looting. Its hard to stop a looter when your arms are occupied by a TV.
If the real buses are also Orleans Parish school buses, the odds are starting to look like the whole renegade bus was never a renegade at all....
It certainly IS relevant, because nobody has ever had the nerve to deal with them before -- everybody's too damn scared of them -- so here we are, in the midst of the worst crisis in this country's history and look who we've having to deal with: PUNKS.
This entire resuce is revolving aroudn whether or not a bunch of punk ass kids can be CONTAINED long enough to get SICK PEOPLE OUT.
I'm tired of it. And I'm tired of people making excuses for them, as if they have some birthright to act like damn fools and terrorize good people who are just trying to get along simply because of the color of their SKIN.
Listening to the scanner . . . 2 things becoming evident . . . situation at dome (Super) is "critical" . . . but, and here's the good news, the grown ups have finally arrived and are now in charge . . . man, hearing these military guys talk, you just know this sorry humanitarian situation is gonna be cleaned up real quick . . .
I have not called that number myself. I have verified that other family member has called the LSP. Unknown at present what results it had.
A group of young gentlemen comandered it for a ride to Texas and saw refugees walking along the highway and stopped and picked them up along the way.
Some (the hikers) were just grateful for a ride since many had young children and babies (notice, that due to the way the liberal, welfare, state is set up, most of these young women with children are alone with other women) and these women and children are, indeed, in need of a roof and warm bed and food. It's the "gentlemen" I have a probem with.
Found the Louisiana State Police/ National Guard Net on Teamspeak!!!
