Hostage Situation in New Orleans
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just a heads up, armed looters have taken over one of the medical centers in New Orleans where the injured people were being sent. They are holding the entire staff of the hospital hostage and firing at the national guard. An FBI SWAT team has just been flown in (from Baton Rouge I believe) and they are just now getting situated. I'm not sure of any online scanners that are up monitoring the state trs. That is where alot of traffic is going on at.
LSP Troop B is requesting immediate backup. Troopers, riot squad, and national guard. He said the crowd is triple the size it was earlier and they are about to be overrun.
The location is 610 and eleshafield(spelling?).
Should I make another thread that has events going on down there? Lots of stuff has gone on and half of it never makes it on the news or anything.
I haven't seen this referenced in any news reports (I don't have access to a TV right now so..)
Does anyone have a news agency link for this?
A fing lotter?
Hey...that's a series thing!
It's HUGH!
It's already been pointed out that Louisiana law provides for these disasters when it's not looting when you acquire material needed to sustain life.
One does hope the trigger happy crowd holds their fire until they consult with an attorney.
Oh, yes, someone noted somewhere that it was CNN saying "most of the looters are taking hardgoods" ~ or something like that.
The lesson is DON'T TRUST CNN. Doesn't mean there aren't some bad guys out there, but CNN is among them.
Al baby- I lived in Hollywood during those riots and the mere mention of looters gets my Irish up. I am getting pissed off about it all over again. They need to just shoot these people= we would be so much better off without them.
Damn, just damn!!!!!! This is making me sick!!!
Shooting looters on sight -- no questions, no bs, just shoot them dead. Or better, shoot and wound them, leaving them to fend for themselves and be an example for the others.
GARDEN DISTRICT: A New Orleans police officer is seen carrying DVDs at the Wal-Mart on Tchoupitoulas Tuesday. Many police officers said they felt helpless in enforcing the looters, which were found all over the city.
No wonder the Feds are bringing in their own law enforcement
>>I would like to point out this lawless, uncivilized, sub-human behavior, is not exhibiting itself in Alabama and Mississippi.
Maybe you just aren't hearing about it (report from Gulfport MS).

Food, diapers, and practical clothing aren't luxuries right now, they're necessities. Many people are drenched in foul floodwater and all their clothes at home are drenched and/or inaccessible. The government officials and emergency workers are saying publicly that they have no way to get necessities to people who need them, and some have explicitly sanctioned taking them from stores. I have no trouble giving the benefit of the doubt to people who are non-violently taking this sort of stuff. Armed looting of hospitals is a completely different matter.
I'm getting numb now over this thing.
It was just said on Fox that there are roving bands of armed men. The inference is they're looters and moving in the downtown area.
People in crisis situations will display the full range of human potential they had before the crisis. The full range.
Me too. That' the danger, because next time it happens, we might not be as outraged.
I've seen/heard a couple of reports that a few Wal-Marts had their entire gun section looted.
A wave and hello to one of my favorite gals. :o) (whereyabeen?)
Yes.
Are they Democrat?
Yes.
Nuff said.
