Rising gas prices and ongoing bloodshed in Iraq continue to take their toll on President Bush, whose standing with the public has sunk to an all-time low, according to the latest Washington Post-ABC News poll.
The survey found Bush's job approval rating at 45 percent, down seven points since January and the lowest ever recorded for the president in Post-ABC surveys. Fifty-three percent disapproved of the job Bush is doing.

Likewise, Bush needs to come out fighting and really get tough. Get off the defense and start a good offense. Where is Karl Rove, haven't heard a word about him since the fake accusations a while back.

No President enjoys high approval ratings for their entire term in office, especially during a second term. Reagan had some low approval points during his second term as well, although they rose closer to the end.

True, but when we start taking solace in a 45% approval rating, we start sounding like....democrats! ;-)
Only because the knee jerk Bush haters like you take this nonsense seriously. So IF Polls define reality for you NY, explain the the exact OPPOSET results Rasmussen got when they polled LIKELY voters at the end of last week? I know, don't confuse you with facts, the Dinosaur Media has all ready told you what to think about everything so trying to educate you is a waste of our time.

What are you talking about? I'm not a Bush hater. I just call them like I see them.
Nonsense. You have done NOTHING in the last 18 months but spew Bush hate. That is all you do. Don't pretend to be something you are not. You hate Bush. That is your right. But don't pretend that you have an open mind about anything related to Bush. YOU obviously don't. Free Republic is big enough of all views. We will still accept you here even if you hate Bush. HEY, go into the Immigration threads if you need some hate tips. Those people REALLY hate Bush.

"No, Bush is content to sit on his rear and do nothing and say very little as the left relentlessly attacks him, attacks our troops, and attacks America."
-It would take him four lifetimes to respond to all of this nonsense from the left. Kerry spent his campaign trying to answer to every attack that was thrown at him, and look where it got him. Bush isn't that dumb.
The proof is in the pudding, and things (economy, unemployment, homeland safety, etc) overall are getting much better.

What I would like to see in these polls is how people really feel. I am a die-hard conservative and I do not approve of what Bush is doing because he is NOT conservative enough. With that said, I would still vote for him tomorrow if there was an election because mostly conservative is ALWAYS better than completely liberal...
To: MNJohnnie
I'm not a Bush basher, never been.
It's clear to me that President Bush has an image problem these days.

I'm sorry but I don't trust any poll not done by Rasmussen. They have been the most trustworthy over the last 5 years. Besides WaPo/ABC isn't exactly what anyone with a brain would call "objective."

Bush is totally dumb when it comes to PR. He is 53% Disapproval rate dumb. His failed response is a disservice to our troops overseas. Its also cost him his agenda like social security and ANWR.
The reason you give is not the reason Kerry lost the election.
The proof is the in the pudding, but Bush is failing to sell his pudding to the public because he is not even trying. And therefore that is why the libs and the MSM are driving his numbers down, our agenda is stalled, and our opponents in the War on Terror are emboldened.

Since they only sampled 0.00033% of the US population, I'd say the Presidents disapproval rating is actually 0.000176%
Anyone wanna check my math?

How about verbal support of his supporters?
Hmm how much actually coverage do you see of the Pres and how much is some talking head TELLING you what to think about the Pres said. Bush and Centcom and the Pentagon and a whole lot of people talk daily about stuff. How much of it are you hearing? You might as well turn off the TV. Same with the Radio. All you hear is this constant "Why isn't Bush DOING something whine". When the hell did the party of Ronald Reagan become such a bunch of whiners? Know what HR 3333 is? Know what the latest Centcom brief said? Know what Bush said in his Sat radio address? If you sit back and wait for the Dinosaur Media to tell you anything positive, you will die unhappy of old age first. You have to be your own journalists these days. And you have to FIGHT for the things you believe in. All the Congress Critters were home in Aug. Go to any town halls, write any letters, contacted any of Newsweek's advertisers and told them you will NOT be buying as long as they support reporting treason? That Koran Flush story is, has and WILL get Americans killed. Dick Durbin speaks treason on the floor of the US Senate and "Conservatives" sit back and whine "Why doesn't Bush DO something. HE IS. But he NEEDS all your help. YOU got a role in this too. IT IS Government BY the people, remember????.

Hey Hitman, you do not have to pretend to be what you are not. We all know you hate Bush. You want to just regurgitate the Dinosaur Media talking points, feel free. But also don't expect us to take you too seriously when it the same old song and dance every post.

Hmm... I don't know about the poll of likely voters you're talking about, but Rasmussen's polls for the same period of time (August 25-28) show results basically within the margin of error of the MSNBC poll -- 46-49% approving, 53-50% disapproving.
Idiot.
