In response to my column on the decline of cable news because of their obsession with missing-person cases, one person wrote in, "Come-On. Get a Grip... What's wrong with a couple of hours 'break' from Real News.."
A couple hours break?
On the other hand, one said, "I am so sick of hearing all of the details of the Aruba fiasco that I just can't tolerate it any more. This Aruba show is sinking Fox News, and I am watching it less and less."
Here's what someone else wrote:
"I just read your article and have to agree completely that the Holloway reporting has gone completely off the deep end. I used to be a junky watching Hard Ball, O'Reilly, Hannity/Colmes and then Scarborough Country until about a month or two ago.
It was getting too much for me to waste that much time but these shows used to be compelling. Especially the first year or so of Scarborough Country. Joe used to be hard-hitting, very conservative and used to expose media bias and liberal hypocrisy. Not any more. Lately he has tried to go head to head and compete with Greta just because they are on at the same time.

Fox News: Almost All Tabloid All the Time
Conservative Fox News Channel Up 32% (WOW) In August Ratings As Other Cable News Operations Crash
We don't get cable or satellite TV so we're stuck with the 3 networks and sometimes PBS. At one point over a year ago we were really looking into getting cable because we wanted to get Fox News, but it wasn't offered with the most basic package so we didn't bite.
But now even if it was offered at a basic rate, I doubt we'd go for it. I've heard way too many complaints from regular Fox News watchers and every time I tune into Fox News at a family member's house I tire easily at the amount of time spent on non-news stories.
I don't watch the others, well sometimes I watch that asshat Olberman when O'reilly is being stupid. I am amazed anyone watches Greta, though. Sheis annoying and boring. I'll take Animal Planet over Greta.
Yeah! Greta in a swimsuit! can't Wait for the calendar!......
I have a cousin who is a producer for CNN. Even He watches Fox News! The reason more people watch Fox than the others is simply because their on-air personalities are more attractive than the competition. Period.
Brit rules. Fox News Sunday is OK - especially the panel where Brit regularly beats up on Juan Williams.
Greta has always been a one story woman starting with OJ.
Yea I bet you don't.
Two of the reasons I no longer watch Fox
Not having TV or radio, I just heard about the Hurricane yesterday. And that is just because I went to Freerepublic for the first time in quite a while.
Life is so quiet these days... ;^>
It doesn't have to be all-news either, there'd be hunting shows, tips on firearm defense, spotlights on key issues such as SS and illegal immigration (bayourod could be one of the debaters ROFL) and interviews with FReepers.
We could have a "War on Drugs" show. More chair throwing than on Geraldo Rivera.
Ditto - he was great yesterday. Made a very good report on Sheehan's poor excuse for a radio interview with NPR. You know how he does it with that straight face and those eyes looking at you that say "what she's doing is b*&^s&#t." Then he reported something the New York Times said about Bush - something like "Bush said that the supporter are giving aide to the Enemy." Brit said, "That's not what he said at all," and then said the correction. Love that man's style!
I watch Brit and John Gibson....however if either one of them so much as mentions Aruba....WHERE'S MY G.D. REMOTE????
FOX needs to start a new network, one that caters to sensational types of stories. They can call it "OMG/FOX". For the rest of us? Please, give us our news network back...
what happened to David Asmond and Linda Vester? There have been an awful lot of new anchors most of whom cut people off and won't let them talk? MSNBC can have Rita Cosby who I have always found irritating. I would prefer Greta talking about Natalee than about Cindy Sheehan. The summer is usually a slow news cycle. Give them a break.
While I agree with all this as it relates to the Aruba story...it is interesting (and sad) that since Greta has been covering it, her ratings seem to have gone through the roof. Granted, it was a few weeks ago that I recall these ratings...but I'm wondering if Fox isn't just pandering to what it thinks is a ratings winner.
I like Heartland on Saturdays at 5 p.m. John Kasich. Sometimes he sits in for Bill O'Reilly.
Are there still people who watch television out there?
How quaint.
LOL! I was thinking the same thing.
