A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Free Republics Finest Pray For America
Our Country suffered a devastating blow this week with Hurricaine Katrina. It is so hard to watch the pain and suffering from our citizens. BUT
.WE WILL PREVAIL because we are a society that lends a helping hand. Please stop here and share your thoughts and prayers.
We are heartened by all the threads offering support
Many of us are personally involved with local relief efforts
Some come from small communities who have deployed two to three trained disaster volunteers. Larger communities send more. The bottom line is....WE ARE here for our fellow countrym men and women.
The same thing is happening all around the United States. We are just of a few small communities but you add them up and thousands are helping set up shelters all around the country, providing food, water shelter, comfort and support. This is the United States at its best.
We now offer prayers for all the victims of this terrible disaster and GOD BLESS THE USA!!!!!!
Isaiah 33:2 -- O LORD, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress.
James 5:15b -- The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

Prayers for the Katrina Victims....
Dear Lord...Please embrace in your arms those who have perished, for the "displaced families" AND their families who are waiting and wondering.
Dear Lord, please offer comfort and strength for the relief workers who could so easily sit back at home and watch the stories unfold on national news rather than sacrifice to help their fellow man.
As always, dear Lord, please embrace our military men and women deployed overseas, giving them strength and keeping them safe.
Please help us forgive those who are simply using this as a "political tool". Please try to reach them and help them begin to recognize that this crisis is beyond "politics as usual". And, please accept our prayers for our President and his team as they deal with this crisis.
For this we pray. Amen.

Amen!
I have very limited access this weekend, so don't expect to see much of me. I am in Fredericksburg for a big craft show, and although the motel says they have wireless, it stinks. I am in the lobby right now--till they run me out! :o)

One of our long ago traditions of a sort, as Billie can confirm, was in exchanges during the Whitewater Years on FR when Pharmer Phil showed us the light..:)) I sure can. 'da Pharmer - what a phunny, phunny guy. His Socks character was the cutest thing - next to 'da Pharmer himself. :)

Dolly, first and foremost THANKYOU for jumping in and going with this thread. All I can say is WOW. Aqua...you too.... And LadyX, thanks for your efforts keeping it bumped....
I've been tied up at work, am sort of "interconnected" with Red Cross and we were working on arrangements to send local volunteers, deploy supplies etc. A great feeling until I came home and finally saw the even more devastation tonight...AND the politics. It just makes me sick!!!! I've decided..."Doing" is better than "watching from afar" (if it's just from the MSM) NO WONDER the sheeple have become cynical. Geesh!

I love it! And if I didn't tell you before, I'm so glad that you heard from your sister and she is safe. Good news there. :)

I just found this on another thread. I know there must be a lot of owners out there that are worried sick about them too. Of course, humans must come first but hopefully the rescue groups will get to these guys before it's too late.
Noahs Wish
Amy Maher is a coordinator for a national organization called Noah's Wish, which works to save as many pets as possible during such catastrophes. More than a hundred Noah's Wish volunteers are expected to arrive in Louisiana tomorrow. Various Louisiana animal welfare groups are managing animal evacuations and recovery plans for New Orleans pets and displaced animals. The Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association is currently accepting pets at the Blackham Coliseum in Lafayette, LSU in Shreveport, the Monroe Civic Center for small animals and the Ike Hamilton Center for large animals in Monroe. Pets are also being accepted at the Farmer's Market in Alexandria, and the LSU Agriculture Center at Parker Coliseum in Baton Rouge.

Hi, Aqua, I believe that's the third verse from Isaiah I've seen today. Very fitting.
There's that pretty table.

Oh, good! It just breaks my heart into pieces to see or hear about the little pets separated from their owners and having to fight for their lives when they've been sheltered. Children and animals - they are so helpless and so dependent on grownups to take care of them.

As unbelieveable as it is, Dem Dumb Dimwitted Dems are mounting an attack on President Bush blaming him for Katrina.
I'd be ashamed of myself to associate in any way shape or form with those Jackasses (sorry for the disparaging words and connection against the members of the animal kingdom).

More than glad to add when I can, dutchess, knowing the demands on your time at work and home, Mama_Bear helpng jkphoto and her m-i-l, JustAmy with her hands full with PrissyMissy, and The Mayor finishing up his construction project.
Things in the Gulf region are more dire by the hour, and we haven't any idea what the final toll will be.
Millions are displaced, trying frantically to put their lives on solid ground again, not to mention the number of deaths and injured and illnesses.
Add to that the emotional and mental ramifications for them all.

Thank you for the link, Dave.
"Pray for your President, that God guide him. And in all that you do and say, try to be the wind beneath his wings."
We indeed do this, according to God's exhortation that we pray for *ALL* our leaders.
It does not matter if we approve or disapprove of the person in charge. We are not to pick and choose among them.
We are to ask God to work on them to change their hearts/deeds/poor thoughts/actions, and to guide them.
Our prayers are pleasing to Him, and tides can be turned by the faithful prayer warriors.

Weinie, that is one of THE best signature graphics ever created..:))
On a serious note, it is very comforting to know you are at the beginning of Rainbow Ridge to say, "Welcome" to any and all 'critters' who go there from the disaster.
We can 'picture' you with wings on your back, rounding up others to shepherd all the newcomers!
Imagine our Weinie garbed like this doggie:
