It is with heavy heart I write this...
I have finally reconnected with my best friend who is a paramedic who was sent from Georgia 2 days ago to Gulf Port, Mississippi before the hurricane hit.
He just reached me within the last 10 mins via emergency cell phone to tell me he was alive.
Thousands of bodies have been discovered throughout Mississippi in Gulf Port, Waveland,Hancock County,Bay of St.Louis.
They are hanging in trees and they are pulling them out 30 at a time. Entire families found drowned in their homes and washing up on shore.
The stories he could tell me were brief. National Guard is on the scene and arresting anyone seen on the streets.
The numbers are staggering and what I have been told tonight will shake people to their foundation as the numbers will be coming out in the next 24-hours of just how many people have actually perished in these and 3 other beach communities.
More to follow....

My prayers are with all of the victims of this terrible tragedy.

This one has a definite aroma.

i simply said that those who reflexively crucify the "usual suspects" should see that sometimes the usual suspects arent the bogeymen that some would have us believe. And sometimes they are, so what's your point?
If there is anything that is the hallmark of a liberal commentator, it's presenting a conclusion that subsumes their faulty premises rather than build an argument where any one of their premises can be scrutinized. Telling others not to suspect the usual suspects without noting why this time should be different is simply fatuous.
Thankfully, the whole "plausible deniability" rubric liberals have been hiding behind for years is starting to crumble as more and more conservatives learn to ignore the intellectual fellatio liberals are so adept at, and pay attention to what they do.

I know I'm the resident skeptic on this thread but this account is completely over the top.
I don't FR is the place to peddle stories about how the government routinely hides and destroys the corpses of thousands of disaster victims.
The accounts I found via Google, as a whole, appear to source originally from Nexus Magazine which is just this month regaling its readers with an account of the top-secret British-Nazi warfare in the Antarctic even after the end of WW II. Nexus is "an international bi-monthly alternative news magazine, covering the fields of: Health Alternatives; Suppressed Science; Earth's Ancient Past; UFOs & the Unexplained; and Government Cover-Ups." If you're going to post stuff from a kook site, can't you at least use an
American kook site?
I think you should post this kind of material on your own thread and take your chances with the moderators. This is MFH's thread on the death toll in Mississippi.
I suppose that posting this will lead to fresh accusations than I'm a thread cop but, really, don't we have to have some standards?

I don't know anything about the guy you're posting to but this is a rare example of incisive writing. Very pointed.

I agree with you. That write-up about secretly incinerating bodies is the kookiest thing I've read on FR.

I am not the nurse who wrote the book--but I did work in Homestead after the storm, while living in the Tent City. The death toll from Hurricane Andrew was underreported. There were other things that occurred as well, and I'll not report them in this forum.

My language got me in trouble, once, and the warning came from the biggest gun on FR! OUCH!
The mods have a very very tricky job here...sure I don't need to explain it.
But in a very real way, they must maintain the credibility and language of this forum or it will dissipate into a place that loses its power to support the conservative movement.
Just imagine being a mod when events heat up like this one has...I have never seen so many deleted posts, ever, and I have been around here a long time.
But knowing that MFH was able to return, and post to us what happened, is a very good thing.
All emotions are raw when America is suffering. And to have to go from cindy to katrina was one great big emotional nightmare for folks who deeply, genuinely love our nation and support our Commander in Chief and Troops 110%.

I admit it was my fault, well sort of. Some of the earlier posts were taliking about covering up the 'real' death toll from this disaster (a supposed repeat of Andrew) and refrigerator trucks for the dead that would never be reported. And I called bs. From the statements of officials the past day or so, it is clear none of this was going to happen.
To: billbears
Well, I don't see exactly how you're involved but don't sweat it. I'm watching some of the television coverage tonight. It really is appalling. I can't believe how inept the government's response has been. Local officials can't even control the police and quite a few survivors may die before we get federal resources there. Sadly enough, some of the private charities and the corporate efforts like Walmart beat the feds and the locals to the scene on delivering lifesaving aid.
Waiting for this government clown posse trying to waddle out of its latest spending stupor and actually help some helpless citizens is really starting to grate on me when I think of all the borrowed money they've just pissed away in recent years.

No, my brother in law in NO used a sail boat and home made paddles. My cousin drove in using back roads from Mobile into Pascagoula and Gautier.
Why?

Bump.
FWIW, I just got off the phone with my friend Damon from Biloxi. He finally got a cell line out. He said his house is less than 1/4 mi. away from the beach and is the only one standing without any real damage within a couple block area. We spoke for about 10 minutes. Where he is staying is on generator power and will not last til morning. Gasoline is non existent. I asked him how bad it was on the ground there. His response was "REAL bad"! He kept on saying that. He then said that it looks like a cross between a war zone and Night of the Living Dead. He said that there are bodies everywhere. He is usually a pretty strong stomached guy but he was on the verge of tears the entire conversation.

Just take a look at the footage shot by a TV station in Jackson, MS. They sent their copter down to the area several times.

Where was their fear of the FCC and the dominant party in government then? My point was that party politics takes a back seat to government goals when managing the press. Yes, you see political scandals in the press. When you see an accurate count of the number of illegal aliens, THEN you can say we have a free and independent press.
Or, look at it this way: How much of the nominally executive-branch controlled premanent government changes after an election? How much of our laws are actually policies formulated by this unaccountable permanent government? THAT is what the press kowtows to, not the Coke vs. Pepsi "political" battle.
To: Necrovore
Still the casualty estimates are - quietly - numbered in the "thousands" in the press. It would still be technically accurate to say "dozens." Just many many many dozens.
To: My Favorite Headache
Sen. David Vitter now saying that the death toll starting point will be "10,000".
