It is with heavy heart I write this...
I have finally reconnected with my best friend who is a paramedic who was sent from Georgia 2 days ago to Gulf Port, Mississippi before the hurricane hit.
He just reached me within the last 10 mins via emergency cell phone to tell me he was alive.
Thousands of bodies have been discovered throughout Mississippi in Gulf Port, Waveland,Hancock County,Bay of St.Louis.
They are hanging in trees and they are pulling them out 30 at a time. Entire families found drowned in their homes and washing up on shore.
The stories he could tell me were brief. National Guard is on the scene and arresting anyone seen on the streets.
The numbers are staggering and what I have been told tonight will shake people to their foundation as the numbers will be coming out in the next 24-hours of just how many people have actually perished in these and 3 other beach communities.
More to follow....
(from email)
Team PA,
Navy leadership is sincerely concerned for our Sailors and their family members in the areas affected by Hurricane Katrina. In light of the communication difficulties created by the hurricane, BUPERS has set up a 24 hour helpline for both Sailors and families to call for information regarding their loved ones.
The number is 1-877-414-5358
This line will be staffed 24 hours by active duty Navy volunteers and will have connectivity with Navy, FEMA and other government agencies. They will try their very best to answer questions regarding the status of Navy family members, but please be aware that communication in the region is still inconsistent.

Did you see the replies dismissing Hewitt here? He isn't wanted by the kook brigade.
I find the above amazing. How do you know most refused? I'm flabbegasted that you would think someone in a wheelchair would go out into a storm and just wheel themselves over uneven terrain with no destination.
I saw a report on CNN last night where newsies were saying that people had no idea where to go or what to do. Before the storm, they were asking reporters what they were supposed to do. This is the fault of inept local pols and no one else. Since when is it ok for a city etc NOT to have emergency plans? Cities have meals-on-wheels for the old and the helpless but screw 'em during a storm?! I'm sure there are some who thought they could ride it out but I'm also certain that there was NO leadership or info given.
It's really easy to judge the victims from your warm, dry, snug computer chair.
Good! Thanks for the info.
Me, I think you are right, and I'm still praying that you are wrong. But it doesn't take much reading between the lines to see that this report is consistent with what we are seeing.
In fact, I've been tempted to give the benefit of the doubt to weepy Gov. Blanco - it may be that her distressed state is because she knows how bad this is going to be...
Can someone start a prayer thread or something? I don't know how to do that, but prayer is all I can think of doing from so far away.
Of Course....I hope everyone is able to make some monetary contribution to the Red Cross, or donate blood. Their urgent pleas for assistance are being announced all the time on TV. If we can't do anything else, donate blood --- Let's not forget that need.
Tragically, reports today seem to be doing just that.
I honestly hope your friend is wrong...mistaken some how...but sadly, I do not believe he is.
May God grant them pardon and remission of their sins, and rest in a place of brightness, a place of verdure, where the sight of His countenance rejoices the saints from all the ages!
Memory eternal! Memory eternal! Memory eternal!
somethign to ponder..est. 100,000+ stayed in NOLA..most of them from the poorest neighborhoods, if not the homeless..So maybe 20k+, 30K+ were drug users...what happens when thousands of people go cold turkey all at once?
Undoubtedly some are just as you say.
And Praise God for their faithful efforts in behalf of our Constitution.
Others of them are vioilating the Constitution in behalf of the globalists big time. imho. And from all the research and connections I've reviewed.
I don't need that. But please ping George W. Bush and txradioguy, etc. to that post.
Was it Tulane University that Natalee Hollaway was going to attend on a scholarship if she hadn't disappeared on Aruba?
Some jump from the 2nd level of the SD, others open fire on the police and still more go looting.
Prayers on the way.
Just FYI, on 9/11 they DID shut off the cameras for the people jumping out of the buildings. They NEVER showed them hitting the ground. On the first day, they were reporting "2 confirmed dead", when obviously it had to be MUCH higher than that. Look at the TOTAL lack of coverage of the areas in Mississippi... They are staying around the hard rock hotel, and thats it. Where are the helicopters flying overhead along the entire coastline? Where are pictures of Slidell? There is DEFINETLY a media black out of sorts. I mean, look at the evacuation of the people from the Superdome... Yesterday it was reported that this was happening, and the threads were removed because the media "backed off" the claim. Yet, somehow, we wake up to find they are moving 25,000 people to the Astrodome. There definitely is a total lack of solid communication occurring, be it on purpose, or just because the lines of communication are down. I do find it hard to believe though that we cannot get ANY solid information, yet at the same time the Army Corp of Engineers can flat bed trucks with jersey walls on the back of them into uptown New Orleans, and have helos lift them off the back of the trucks and place them in the hole in the levee...
I mean, you get numerous reports of looting and all sorts of horrid events going on in what must be one of the worst hell holes on earth at the moment, yet we are told only 100 people died when a tidal surge went in at least 1/4 of a mile and leveled ENTIRE towns. I hardly buy it. Call me a nut, a wacko, a right-wing extremist, but I DEFINETLY feel we are not being given the entire story here, as stated before, be it as complex as some concoction to conceal the truth and buy time, or as simple as the fact that communication lines are down. But to believe the media is some "reliable" source of information... I just cannot do that. If that were the case, why should people west of the east coast have even bothered voting in the 2000 election considering the media CALLED it for Gore....?
No thanks, Ill go on being a kook.

If my Denomination wasn't in the thick of things I would agree but they are and they are good. Having been through 4 major floods in Central Texas in the last 7 years I have seen them at work and the Salvation Army and My Church's Denominational workgroup have done the most.
During the four Hurricanes in Florida last year our Denomination was cooking meals for the Salvation Army to distribute. As a matter of fact we beat the Salvation Army into the area because of the ties to local churches. And the leaders of the Salvation army were impressed by the effiency of our operation.
"what happens when thousands of people go cold turkey all at once?"
