obviously I'm way back yonder on this thread, but this bears repeating. Anti-freeze from all those cars (not to mention other chemicals) will burn you. Some of these people will wonder how they got burned when the blisters start.
here are the projected levels for the Mississippi river for the next 5 days

Did you see all those prisoners sitting on the road with the armed guards?? I think if I were a guard I'd say "Run for your lives. We'll catch up with you later"
new looting video on Fox now
What is that a pic of?
Regarding Cruise ships in NO, yes there are several. We did a cruise out of NO last June on a large Carnival ship the Conquest. It left on Sunday at 6pm and returned early the next Sunday. We went to Jaimaica, Grand Cayman (before it got destroyed) and Mexico. It did a 180 turn on the MS river right in front of the highway 90 bridge and headed out to the gulf. We were escorted out by several of those orange and white coast guard helicopters that are now picking up survivors. We spent an evening in the downtown business district. Took the kids to see Bourbon Street (no we didn't let them go in any of the bars). We stayed about a block from the tall Hyatt that had all the windows blown out. Really sad to see all the destruction now. Glad went took the kids to see if before all of this though. May be a while before we can go back.
Choppers are slow flyers and require refuelling stops or an escorting tankers. Most choppers cruise at about 60-100mph and take time to get there. Many are on the way now from where they were dispersed to avoid the storm.
Transport planes? Private Cessnas? THERE'S NOWHERE TO LAND A FIXED WING AIRCRAFT IN NOLA!!!! The airports are either underwater or undermined by water.
The biggest thing that could be flown in is a glorified Zodiac boar or Boston Whaler.
A
How many times has UNT had a winniong record when they won therre conference?
Any explanation for the pic? That one is an attention grabber.
oh yes. indeed, what's the number up to there now, 30K? that place is a timebomb waiting to go off.
yep, that was the voice of reason and confidence from Gov. Blanco.....
she sounded kinda like when an aunt who describes the death of her kitten. ridiculious....
one of the breeches.
The only problem is: where will the workers at the oil facilities live? Hopefully there will be enough buildings standing (or brought in) for the energy industry workers to have somewhere to come home to from work.
There is some breeching downriver from the main part of New Orleans. Plaquemines has multiple breeches; the guys working down Belle Chase HWY were talking about as they went further down river, they couldn't see any land. there's the Industrial Canal breech, Algiers across the river has a breech I think. Wouldn't be surprised if there were breeches in St. Bernard parish. There is none by the French quarter part of New Orleans - yet. But all this water makes stress on the levees.
Well, you are a pervert for supporting Laz, but I don't understand why you would think that was a hateful thing to say. ;^)
The river is also roughly 200 feet deep in NO. So, if it isn't the river flooding into the city as others have said quite convincingly, where is all the water coming from? Physics seems to indicate it isn't the Lake anymore. What stresses were put on the levee during the storm? Enough to weaken it or erode it down? Just wondering here. Only been to NO twice. I do not want to incite any sort of panic and am just wondering for those who are more familiar with the area, what are their thoughts on the flooding.
Question. What about all the rain that fell in the Ohio River valley today(B/C of Katrina) that will eventually drain into the Mississippi River? The River will be up possibly flood stage in areas. All that water will eventually drain down the river into the NO area, Right? I mean that will take days, but worsen the situation?
