Remember: Pre-9-11 the big fear was that mil intelligence would be seen doing intelligence work on citizens, hence The Wall. They may have destroyed the data out of fear of being accused of such a thing, apparently never dreaming that they were getting rid of what could have prevented an attack on our country more deadly than Pearl Harbor.

Oh! Your question just gave me a chill down my back. Made me remember in the news just after 9/11 that someone somewhere made BIG money betting on a plane crash for 9/11.....
Clinton ordered ALL Able Danger documents to be destroyed because of their Chinagate findings. The Able Danger findings on Al Qaeda were destroyed to eliminate all evidence that Able Danger ever existed.
The 3rd witness (this is now the FOURTH witness), a civilian security contractor named Smith, said that when AD was shut down a Colonel told him (Smith) that the program would be the end of his (the Colonel's) career. So, apparently someone was breathing fire over the Chinagate findings and/or the worries of the DOD lawyers that there would be trouble for finding intel on US citizens (unfortunately, the law does not allow for the possibility that in the Internet Age a program finding links with terrorists and/or spies may not limit itself to non-citizens). The destruction had nothing to do with 9/11. It was all about CYA. Identifying US persons as possible terrorists by the military would have placed a very bright spotlight on our intelligence gathering agencies and methods.
The destruction was probably ordered to get rid of the evidence that could be used (ACLU?) to show attempts were made to identify these suspects to the agency (FBI) legally responsible for conducting surveillance of persons within this country.
Why did we not get the truth about TWA800? Why the cover-up about Oklahoma City? How about our "peace keeping" mission in Somalia? There is a pattern you know. I think the question is why did Clinton want to create the false image that we were at peace with the world and the only terrorists we needed to be concerned about were domestic. Clinton's war was within his own country.
Except the original WTC bombing, OKC, TWA800, the embasssy bombings, the Cole, and an overwhelming need to run screaming from anything that remotely resembled a terrorist attack. The denial, coverups and misapplied responses surrounding these events led directly to 911.

It might be some of the guys on the sheet brought down TWA flight 800. It was time to make sure the Clintonistas new nothing about what was coming. Covering up might have seemed impossible after the crazy lengths they went to cover up the TWA terrorist incident.
My guess is they were ordered to destroy the information shortly before Hillary started talked about the VRWC publicly.
Probably some lawyer told them to destroy it "just in case you accidently might have by chance gleaned some intel on a person hwo has not yet overstayed their visa and kamikaze bombed 3000 people yet.

The political class is at it again. They will stop at nothing to cover this up. Both parties are in this thing together. Like I have said many times in the past, for all the evil that Bill Clinton and his ilk perpetrated on this country,we are suffering the consequences now and we will for many years to come.
God bless Curt Weldon for all that he is doing but in the end Slick Willy and his ilk are part of the political class and they will be protected.
There had been several deadly bin Laden/al Qaeda attacks, Somalia, two American embassies in Africa, the Cole, the first World Trade Center bombing, etc., and according to the National Geographic cable special aired last week, we'd had many, many warnings and threats of deadly violence to come. Deadly violence breathed down our necks well before 9/11. Clinton simply didn't want to deal with it. He was too busy with Monica and impeachment.

I suspect the Clinton administration knew something might happen (they'd seen enough of attacks during their tenure) and demanded it be destroyed in order to shift responsibility.
