YOu would not want to be traveling - if you didn't have to - within 150 miles of NO for the next week or two. Just adding to confusion.

Carroll County, GA update - homes damaged in two locations near Carrollton proper; Carroll Co. PD reports a mobile home was tossed more than 100 feet, and landed on it's roof. No word of injuries yet.

Just passin' along what they said, friend. The reporter, Gary Tuchman, was in fact in Mississippi and was relating what he'd seen and heard from local law enforcement.

Think we may just need to put the USS Alabama Report in the unconfirmed or erroneous catagories for now. The TV website doesn't even have mention of it.

Hopefully the story is untrue.

I have dial up and do not mind having a graphic once in a while. I had rather wait a minute or two than take a chance on a link and spend days geting my computer back in shape.

Haven't seen anything specific on Long Beach itself. This is the closest:

From Sun Herald city editor Kate Magandy, in Long Beach at 10:a.am CDT As Hurricane Katrina continued to pound South Mississippi Monday morning there were unconfirmed reports that there was water up to the second floor at the Beau Rivage Casino in Biloxi and that there was water standing in the Grand Casino Biloxi.
___
Bay St. Louis had a storm surge of 22 feet, but details from this area is still sketchy.

IT was an Oil rig that floated into the bridge.

Have found no confirmation on the USS Alabama report. It was on a local TV station during a phone call, but there isn;t even a story on it on thier own website. HOpefully the caller just had the Alabama confused with the oil rig or something.
