She said this has happened in the last two hours?
No power, no commo, no way to tell them.
I've been saying lots of prayers and will pray for your dad too.
I was wondering if they were perhaps trying to check it out or something? But then to go until now, top of the next hour, seems odd b/c he certainly didn't add any updates to it...and that definitely is not one of those stories you ought to be able to gloss over!
more on hiding Slidell....
Turn back from Tammany
Tuesday
1:55 a.m.
St. Tammany Parish government officials sent an e-mail to WWL-AM radio
via CBS Television to inform the public that all roads into the parish are closed and a curfew is in effect.
"Do not attempt to leave your home if you're in St. Tammany Parish," the message said. "Government is working with utility companies and emergency providers."
The note said officials hoped to begin clearing roads and getting emergency equipment back into the parish later today. The officials said they have no telephone or email access to the area.
I wondered if he was medicated, too. I'm not sure what his problem is, but someone needs to take this out of his hands and do it quickly. I pray someone already has.
You know I am not a investigative reporter but you would think the anchor would ask the woman reporter standing by all that law enforcement if she hearing this on their scanners
That's exactly how I found it - "twin span" & "i-10."
Man.
From that blog post, it's all but impossible to get in or out anyway.
What about lots of flares, loudspeakers....just don't know. Helpless feeling here.
I'm confident they can find water if they are desperate enough. Perhaps not very good water, but given the choice of death from dehydration and drinking the flood waters the latter is preferable. So long as they aren't too salty they'll maintain life and the water born infections they may carry can be treated if you stay alive long enough to permit rescue.
Slidell might turn out to be the huge tragedy in this the folks at the nola St Tammany forum are besides themselves with like of info
I am not sure a lot of the La. Trunked System is working properly....
I know the shortwave comms I heard today stated all the north shore sites are gone.... they can only communicate simplex if that...
So, on that little canal there, the water is breaching the left side and moving toward the hospital?
