You are right.

So we don't have any count from LA at all, do we?

Pray .. contribute to the charitable agencies who will be collecting clothing, cash, etc. I'll be very surprised if there won't be a major national fundraiser for them for this area, and I just don't know how even FEMA, the National Guard, and the relief agencies are going to be able to handle all the help that's so vitally need so quickly for so much for so many people and issues.

What's so tough is that no one can go in there with help until the water dissipates, and right now it's still pouring in. It's going to be a mercy mission of epic proportions, as this was a storm of epic size and destruction. This event will try people's souls for a long time, and there will be shock, mourning and grief for a very long time. Prayers for all these poor souls and those who will be giving much to help them.

There is jubilation that the French Quarter survived rather well, which is great, but who's going to be going there? The mayor said both airports were also destroyed .. there's going to be a stench, mold, roads and access disabled for months. The economic tourism base is shot .. for awhile. Many hotels sustained major damage, any conventions that were scheduled there in the next 6 months will surely cancel. The casinos have apparently been destroyed .. it's gonna be a new and shockingly different world for a probably a good year in New Orleans and the Gulf coast communities that have been so devastated.

As for re-building, there are still communities rebuilding from last year's storms in Florida; construction workers and supplies are at a premium, both in availability and cost. I think it's going to be a year of struggling and involuntary patience, as it always is when you are humbled so greatly by events so all encompassing and solutions so beyond your control.

LOL!! I can't tell you how many times the Tooth Fairy came during breakfast at our house. "What do you mean she didn't come? You must hve just missed it under your pillow. Eat your cereal...I'll be back in a sec."

on the replay of BOR, he had pics of Flamingos in a bathroom, and 2 pelicans eating out of a toilet (I guess at the same hotel as the dolphins.)

Just had to share with you.

It depends: sometimes $1 and sometimes as much at $5. The tooth fairy didn't have any ones on her at the time.

I have a dumb question so nobody flame me please.

Are those houses which are nearly submerged salvagable? I can't imagine they would be with mold, diseases, chemicals, etc. Do they tear them all down and start again?

Oh that's wonderful! I will donate now, or get a package ready tomorrow. Thnaks very much.

After 911, when it became apparent that there was no need to give blood, no survivors )o: I sent a box to the rescue dogs, with booties, water bowls, treats...etc. When you feel helpless, you just have to do something. You just gave me a mission. Thanks.

I wonder if most of these ongoing rooftop rescues will be confined to New Orleans, since it is the only place where the waters are now held in by the levees? Elsewhere the water should have subsided a good bit, with homes at least 5' or more above sea level. At least that is my hope.

That mayor has no sense of urgency in his speesh. He is the reason so many stayed behind. He is a travesty and should lose his job over this.

He said yesterday morning that he was enjoying a quiet dinner with his wife Saturday evening when Gov. Blanco called and said she had Max Mayfield on the line. Mayfield implored Nagin to evacuate the city. Shouldn't Nagin have been in contact with the NHC before Saturday evening? Astonishing.
