Campus Bias Against Veterans from War on Terrorism
National Review ^ | August 29, 2005 | Wynton C. Hall & Peter Schweizer

Posted on 08/29/2005 10:10:48 AM PDT by LovesReagan

As college students hit campuses across the nation this week, a new generation of young veterans will step off the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan and onto the ideological battlefield of our university campuses. For those on the frontline in the war on terror, the antiwar hostility of liberal professors and campus activists will assuredly prove unsettling. Just ask Marine sergeant Marco Martinez, a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom...

As long as we have men like Sgt. Martinez, there is no need to worry

I'm not worried .. I know there many many good folks like Sgt. Martinez

And I am forever thankful for all they have done for us

I was just pointing out that this nit wits in college are too busy listening to where ever these professor say, that they forget to think for themselves

Our returning Iraqi vets are experiencing, on campus, the same leftist hatred displayed against returning Vietnam vets. This is reprehensible, but to be expected since the faculties of most universities are loaded with these hippie leftovers of yesteryear.

However, I'm glad for them to be returning and engaging the enemy on another front: the college campus. Their fellow students should see that they have far more credibility than the traitorous professors who oppose them. Who is to be believed, snakes like Ward Churchill or our returning veterans?

If these veterans can be encouraged to be as bold on campus as they were in Iraq, the tide can be turned. The more of them on campus, the better.

The American left truly is reenacting their behavior during Vietnam. What disgusting maggots.

Unfortunately for the Leftist Idiots in our universities, a very different culture exists outside the university. During Nam, the average Americans were oblivious to the rantings of the leftists, much like the reaction to a spoiled brat throwing a tantrum in a public place.

Now, Americans see the damage done by these creeps and will not stand for it. With the advent of the Internet and talk radio, it is much easier to expose their actions to the public.

When our leftist chancellor of the local university tried to stop recruiting on the campus, enough of us non-elistist jumped on his case and brought it to the attention of our legislators, he quickly "modified" his position, but not before getting a public ass-kicking from the tax-payers and their elected representatives.

It is obvious that the leftists don't have a lot of faith in their positions when money is involved.

Thanks for a good read. Even years after Nam, a lot of guys didn't bring up their service in country, just wanted to fit into something they never could again.

I learned it this way. Taking a US History class, the Text covered the complete period(10+ years)of Vietnam in TWO Paragraphs. I asked the Prof. in class, why he thought any text could explain the war and the profound effects it had on America in two paragraphs or why it was being ignored? The guy asked me out into the hallway, leaving the class behind. And as I remember it all these years later said something like,"your a vet, aren't you,(Ya) leave it alone, someday they'll figure out how they'll address it for history. Really pissed me off back then. Still does, now that it comes back to mind. Though I hope there isn't going to be another generation of disaffected young men. As sure as I'm still sucking air, I know it will be so. But maybe this time only by what should be their piers, and not their whole country.

Truly disgusting. The day will come when these same people will wonder who will protect them and they will beg the Marines.
I know this attitude is not the majority attitude, thank God!

I think that when I retire in 5 or 6 years, I am going to take a course or two at one of the fine universities here in San Diego. Being a contrarian in a monolithic and largely unquestioning intellectual environment can actually be a lot of fun.

Good idea!!! I am retired but attended collage after Vietnam and received a lot of flack. I have 5 degrees with a combined GPA of 3.65 so a choice of school would not be a problem. I am able to take a logical position in debate and could stand to lose a few grade points. Most of these people have little life experience and their viewpoint is distorted.

"Martinez does not want his education and future career goals sabotaged by leftist professors."

Martinez is taking the right path. He should also take notes. The time to get even is when the alumni association asks for donations. That is when he should remind them about Professor So-and-so said this-and-that, so sod off.

Me too! Well the MSM and the Libs are now showing their true colors. They hid behind this "we support the troops" and "we need to focus on North Korea" crap from the election. You can see just in the last three weeks how they slowly have voiced their true feeling about our troops and country. They have always been like this but have hidden it over the past four years since the "polls" showed the country wouldn't buy their rant. My gut feeling is these polls are not reflective of the people who are upset at how IRAQ is going because the U.S. hasn't been aggressive enough against the ones supporting the insurgents, Iran, Syria... The plain truth is these anti war people are ignorant and very selfish. We all have been around these types in our daily lives. Always complaining about something. Someone is always at fault not them. If it wasn't IRAQ then it would be the WTO and on and on and on.... They have no basis for their argument. Why?

1. There's no draft! All of our troops our volunteers. This war has gone on now for almost four years and to act like the troops out there are victims doesn't show any respect for them. Which they never had any respect for our troops.
2. 09-11-01 changed everything. If 19 fools can kill almost 3000 civilians in a period of a few hours here in the United States just shows that a good offense is a good defense. What other option is there? You think if there's a Liberal Democrat in the White House the Islamofacist will give up their fight? You think if we totally pull out of the Middle East and cut off Isreal they will stop? The Islamic fundamentalist hate all of us and want to destroy us!
3. Oh by the way anti war people especially Ms. Sheehan. If your going to protest a politician you should go your your own local representative's or senator's home before hanging around down in Texas. I suggest they go to the congressional records and review just who gave authorization for Iraq and who continues to vote "yes" on funding this "War for oil!" They may see your own elected official. They could probably save money on travel if they did this and have a more profound effect.
4. Also anti war people and MSM. Didn't we have a national election which had a candidate who was basically a anti war candidate even though he didn't have the guts to say it ran against the "terrorist Bush"? And didn't that candidate not win because the voters decided to keep the guy who got us into this "war for oil"?

These people don't speak for the majority of America.

This is the "we support the troops but not the war" mantra. I posted this in another thread. Next time you hear it, ask them:

How?

What support organizations that are not political do they run to support servicemen and women?

After some silence...say "I thought so."

The left is about words, not actions.

My school is different. I go to Northwestern College in St. Paul (a Christian school), and during the first chapel service we had, a man who had just gotten back from Afghanistan said something along the lines of "Praise God that myself and all the soldiers in my company got home safe."
He got a standing ovation from over 1800 students and faculty.

Because those sisified professors can make or break his chances at a degree, I've seen it happen before. If a professor doesn't like a student for any reason there is alot he or she can do to derail your dreams. And if they are tenured...forget ever having an apeal heard.

Many of those whose deferments were going to run out at graduation opted to become teachers. (A profession that exempted one from the draft) The public school system of today is the result of this influx of anti-American cowards.

‘You’re a disgusting human being, and I hope you rot in hell!’ ” It's quite hilaruous how liberals play the relgion card, even though to them the only gods are cheap sex and abortions and pot.

It's truley disheartening to see people that feel nothing is worth dying for. Some one once described college to me as a mind dulling experience, that teaches you on the contrary to think for yourself, although I have never been, and by no means am I putting down you freepers that have degrees.

I am very optimistic, because hundreds of thousands of our people will have served there before this is over, and those who survive will be home to take their places in society, on campus, in every walk of life. And I would say that a high percentage of them will be permanently innoculated against the deceit-mongers of the American press.

Most of them will vote Republican, and those who remain Democrats will change the Democratic Party.

I think these soldiers' parents should just homeschool them if they don't want to be ostracized or indoctrinated by these liberal colleges.

Sincerely,

They just can't keep it up forever, this hatred of America and the military.

Why not? They've been doing it for 40+ years now, and they haven't lost any steam.

Can you imagine the trouble it would cause to have a professor walk into a store and be told they are a horrible human being and they should rot in hell?
