we just had a mini tsunami...
New Olreans is flooding as I type this as winds turn north off the lake..
downtown mobile under water..record surge into Mobile Bay
J.C. from the weather channel...surge is 6 feet high in the 1st floor of his hotel which sits 27 feet above sea level..said it came up all at once..
Man, that is unbelievable. Prayers for the region...
Amen to that... When the going gets tough. The tough get going.
That's America without liberals.
How does this guy have time to post? Power? Internet? Sounds bogus.
I didn't say I doubt the cat 5 surge, I was commenting that we can not expect other countries in the world to help us in our time of need and destruction.
some will help. We don't need material things. We need prayers and for them to do what they can...
"I wonder if the world will help."
Mark my words, Jessee Jackson will claim America won't help enough due to racism.
AT 1126 AM CDT...FLASH FLOODING WAS RAPIDLY BECOMING MORE
WIDESPREAD OVER JEFFERSON PARISH AS DANGEROUS HURRICANE KATRINA
MOVES NORTHEAST OF THE AREA. THIS IS A VERY LIFE THREATENING
SITUATION.
Pray about the people and then the buildings. I have a real regard for the beaches there, too. They have such beautiful sand.

Stay safe, and please send us your unwanted rain. We're here in the northeast and are tinder dry.
It was a phone call that aired on The Weather Channel.
Janet we have, compiled from the live thread, the following rpts:
10' I-90 in Mobile, 16-17 feet at Ocean Springs, 20 feet claimed at Gulf Port, but more like 12 to 15 feet described, and what seems to be rapidly deepening water in NO's 9th precinct.
There are also reports of 6 to 8' feet in downtown NO.
Buried here, and can't support two threads so I'm heading back but thought you'd want to know.
Read the post. It was a cellphone call from his producer. Anyone who was watching the weather channel has seen this guy report. He hasn't reported for hours now.
Maybe we could add damage reports only to the title. The other thread has become unusable for information gathering. (As you know all too well...)
I agree. People let their guard down when the wall of water coming in was still the same as if Cat 5

Even the tsunami didn't have a Category designation.
Reverennnnnnd Jacksonnnnnn is preoccupied with Chavez at the moment.
The point is... there seems to be some sentiment that we should suddenly start asking for foreign aid, and it's being asked with a certain amount of acid tongue. I reject outright that we should either resent other countries for the help we've given them, nor that we will need help to recover from this storm. We are the example to follow, or should be.
Does anyone have information on the conditions in Orange Beach, Alabama? It would be much appreciated!
