I've quoted this entire missive for everyone's benefit. If you feel like Diddle E. Squat does, I sincerely apologize. I sometimes try to ease a tense thread with some humor. If it wasn't appreciated here, I understand, and I respect that. I, too, being human, sometimes make bad judgement calls. If inserting what I hoped would be some tension-easing humor was one of those bad judgment calls, please accept my apology.

There you go being nice to everybody again. WTF is wrong with you? FR is for fightin', it seems, lately. Probably be that way until the next election cycle heats up.
I missed what you posted, but don't worry about it. We who were here late last night were exchanging recipes to ease some of the tension and there were those who complained that, as well.

There were a lot of people about to lose homes and friends who were pointed to this thread for breaking news. It and became an embarassment for Free Republic instead of an example of how great the site is.

Accepted - if it were needed - let's move along and gather news but not forgetting that gallows humor is part of human nature.
Laz, i certainly took it as it was intended... i appreciate the "doom" break... apparently, i didn't realize if i posted an occasional joke to break the tension, i seem to not care about those freepers in harm's way... my mistake, i guess
In consideration of others in harms way I try to be careful with this. I'm an old ER nurse and I guess have a mash type sense of humor. Some things I see as funny, others don't. I was on the South Texas storm thread last month and probably posted some off the norm stuff myself.. If things had been worse I would probably have been a lot more serious, I guess though. You are invited to our next one, down here. Just keep it clean though or my husband will pull my plug:')

I so disagree with that poster. I am having winds and trees falling, etc, and I enjoyed your posts. We don't all have to act like we are on the news. A little humor always happens in situations like this.
Don't take the ugly criticisms to heart,,that mean old poster doesn't know what he is talking about. Believe me in the shelter, you would be the person we wanted.
