Re:Nuke, Check world net daily. NEC say that no worry, plant is shut down as well as the one north of Baton Rouge. (Why am I not comforted by this?) Also this plant is very near the flight pattern of the N.O. airport. This one was built close to NO to assure us how safe they were.

Reported here that a computer cliche did not report that hotel was booked solid. They accepted 10,000 reservations, or so they say.
MIght be one of those urban legends in the making, who knows.

geez, the neck of the swan shape got wider up and down the entire eastern coastline.
I thought I had done the "eyewall dance" once during Hurricane Belle in Neptune, NJ in 1976, but when I checked the old (primitive) storm tracks, I don't think it came ashore, so it must have just been in one of the arms of the hurricane.
I see theye is back and a tad smaller, not good.
Fox reporting buoy 50 miles east of MS River reported 46-foot waves.
KFWB got a hold of New Orleans News Crew. They are not in Downtown New Orleans. They moved away. That was not a report from downtown. They did lose power where they are located now about 20 miles west of New Orleans city. Horizontal Sheets of Rain. Tropical Storm Force winds there now. Severe winds expected in 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
I hope that doesn't mean too many of them stayed in their homes down there.
Is it taking the bad path ?.. The dreaded path ? i just woke help me please
must be an error
This is based on the eye passing over directly, right?
What if the eye moves east? Is the danger the same?
I don't want to have a false sense of security, either.
May be an error, I don't know -- just passing on what FNC is reporting.
OTOH, with the tourist and gaming industry down for awhile, there are going to be many people hurting for a paycheck. It's terrible.
sw
Heard on Fox that 80% had been evacuated. If that is true what about the other 20%????????
Jeff Goldblatt and crew went to the W hotel last night.
Look at the intell map and the entire hurricane has completely covered LA now.
Stop it! I like Shep. He can be obnoxious sometimes, but I'd still like to have him around!
I'm glad for NO that it's not going to be as bad as it could have. Everyone stay safe!
NN, thanks for the wonderful threads!
