Morning.

Looks like we got a small blessing by way of a downgrade to cat 4.

Prayers for all involved.

If that eye is not directly below NO in that picture, then I need my eyes checked.

An Eye Wall of the strongest cat 4 hurricane to hit the US is going to travel over a major US City.

"yep & maybe even elect a new mayor & gov"

Next time LA citizens should elect grown ups not pretend officials.

Okay here is an idea.

As soon as the eye moves over NO, immediately get everyone in the superdome to run outside into big trucks and drive away as quick as possible so the trucks follow the eye

Geeesh...when will people understand you cannot EXACTLY predict what a hurricane is going to do? This is the kind of mentality that I detest about liberals. They secretly- sometimes NOT secretly- expect and demand that "they" take care of "us". So if a hurricane(an act of nature, not man) behaves unpredictably, it is "their" fault.

If New Orleans gets inundated it will be THEIR fault...if it DOESN'T...it will equally be THEIR fault.

Life is a RISK..you observe, learn, consider options and take action. Maybe you take the action that proves to be best suited to the circumstances..maybe you don't. There are no guarantees.

Sorry to rant...

This comment is a little last but someone over at FNC needs to slap the $#!* out of their man down at the Super Dome, I think it was Greg Jarrett.

I was watching yesterday and he was talking to a National Guard guy and someone from the Super Dome.

His questions to the NG guy were fine, what you can and can't bring, the line, searches..ect.

But when he got to the guy from the Super Dome it went very close to this.

"Do you think the Super Dome will be able to withstand the 165 mph winds? You know it's only rated to 130 mph and has never been tested against strong winds like the ones headed this way. What happens if the roof fails, what will happen to the people inside?"

Not questions you should be asking right next to the line of people going inside.

Is it required that reporters get injected with a stupid drug?

Maybe an anti-creative drug. Reporters and the news in general now rely so much on pics and video they no longer know how to paint a picture.

the insults are not necessary; i made an observation.

LOL.... no, you were whining (more than once) over the whiners. Get over it.

The subject of this thread is the WELFARE of the citizens and all other life forms in the track of this storm! Quit whining about the whiners.

I use Firefox and an extension called ReloadEvery

Thanks, that's pretty cool.

Maybe when I finally get around to upgrading to XP from Win98SE (I've been saying that for years, LOL).

I'm not sure we are out of the woods yet, the Superdome have never been tested with sustained winds over 130MPH.

But it is supposedly structually sound up to 200 MPH

Good morning Peach. We called to check on friends in Mobile yesterday afternoon and they were under an evacuation order at the time. We invited them to our home; however, the husband is in law enforcement and they have opted to stay.

Exactly. I remain convinced that it was the president calling the mayor to convince him to order a mandatory evacuation that got the guy off the dime.

To think that we've heard for years there is a plan in place for NO and then to hear the mayor tell reporters he was meeting was lawyers because he wasn't sure he had the legal authority to order a mandatory evacuation was quite shocking.

Evidently their plan was to talk with lawyers.
