I live in Norman OK and our mayor is a Republican.
The mayor of NO doesn't deserve to be mayor IMHO. I heard him this morning and couldn't believe what he was saying -- he didn't seem to get it even this morning that this was going to be a huge hurricane hitting NO.
You aren't the only one who has been praying for those in Katrina's path. I think that all of us have been, tonight.
Ditto. I have been getting angrier and angrier all damn day.
I heard the NO mayor being interviewed via phone by both Geraldo and Larry King. Geraldo and the mayor were so awful that I blacked out on the sofa while listening to their awkward and inept q&a. Geraldo even asked...I think I heard this before my blackout...if the mayor knew of anything that would lessen the hurricane! This to a man can't even read.
Houston is gridlocked a lot on a normal day!
all,
storm seems to be decaying on the south west side via radar loop..good news
They, along with the military, guard, and Red Cross made the difference in our survival: food, clothing, and the basic necessities of life .. everything .. after Andrew. These organizations .. and now with FEMA .. are godsends in a disaster.
I've heard that many are riding out the storm. Though that may well be more dangerous than any of us can imagine, I understand those fierce spirits and wish them the Lord's protection.
It's a little more complicated than that.
It will be interesting to see what the public reaction to this mayor's actions will be from NO residents.
Frankly, I wouldn't stay in the SuperDome. I'd have found some way to get out of town.
School buses would have been a natural way to get thousands of people out of town, if they wanted to.
NO has had a long time to get ready for this. I'd think they could have done better.
18-22 ft above normal tide. Up to 28 ft.
Add a note to your "bachelor cuisine bookmark". Step AWAY from the TOASTER and be prepared for the cinnamon toast to launch itself in a horizontal direction. Actually this can be prevented if (1) you slowly release the thing-a-ma-bob before it springs, and (2) only prepare toast when sober.
Me, too.
I'm also furious because the people stuck on the freeways should have been evacuated earlier, too, and now they're in a very dangerous situation.
Water has already crossed Highway 182 in Orange Beach, Alabama.
I expect there will be an adequate amount of novelty tomorrow morning.
NOAA has posted their discussion. It means nothing if they are late. No reason to be dramatic because a discussion is late :) it happens. They are BUSY!
Winds are the same and pressure slightly higher.
just weakening or an ERC?
"It's a little more complicated than that."
No it's not.
Did you come on this thread to argue?
