Extremely dangerous Hurricane Katrina is bearing down on the North Central Gulf of Mexico and New Orleans metro area. Thousands of people did not evacuate New Orleans. Outer bands of Katrina are reaching the Louisiana coast.
Due to the size and intensity of this storm, all interests in the North Gulf of Mexico should be in their safe locations.

"Jerry Rivers on Fox now!"
Oh please! Not Jerry!
That is why I never watch Fox tabloid entertainment.
I know, but if they didn't do it and people started shooting each other in there, could get real ugly. However, I think if they planned all along to search they should have allowed them to begin going in yesterday or at least get them out of the rain and let them line up just inside the doors.
Aww, ya gotta love Geraldo!
This is his normal Sunday night slot, he is not in NO, and this program was promo'd as early as last night.
All it's going to take is for some trees to blow into the Interstate or signs to come down and cause a wreck and the 5mph evacuation will become an immobile parking lot in the storm's path.
It looks like the world's biggest bellybutton...
imagine if when all the ferries came into lower manhattan on 9-11, that the people who had to evacuate manhattan had to line up and be frisked before boarding.
Agree totally.
I never got over the rumble noise, everytime I hear that I jump, even though I'm not in California anymore. :)
But I guess if I had to be stuck on the road in a car, or in my house, I'd rather be in my house when the storm hit.
I saw a live photo of the highways about a half hour ago...unbelievable.
They said many of them are getting off the interstate and trying to find shelters in the adjacent towns.
(I think they were interviewing a Red Cross director when I heard that info.)
Wikipedia isn't exactly etched in stone.
Ole Hickory said we could take em by surprise
If we held our fire til we looked em in the eyes
We held our fire til we seed their faces swell
Then we opened up our squirrel guns and
Really gave em hell
I'll never forgive Whorealdo for that...my hubby was in Iraq at that time...un-f'n-believable!
Recon plane is inbound to the storm, we should have some vortex data soon.
LOL--glad you got the answers--can you point me to them?
Yah-Zoo...like it's next door to Fargo...lol
Actually they have quite a number of doctors and staff there
as it was set up as a special needs shelter before being
opened up to the public, according to New Orleans tv.
Quote "Sure hope there is a supply of "crack" at the Superdome. Wouldn't want to be there when the addicts run out."
Extremely prejudice statement there. Don't deny it either.
