Extremely dangerous Hurricane Katrina is bearing down on the North Central Gulf of Mexico and New Orleans metro area. Thousands of people did not evacuate New Orleans. Outer bands of Katrina are reaching the Louisiana coast.
Due to the size and intensity of this storm, all interests in the North Gulf of Mexico should be in their safe locations.

Mathews just said..."I remember being at the SUperDome when President Bush was nominated, but now it's become a place of safety.."
What a twit he is!
The guy on FOX is sayig that it's gonna be a huge disaster, and Janice Dean is having an on-air nervous breakdown..she's depressed everytime he has to give the forecast...
I KNEW they were going to send Geraldo in! As many war zones and hurricanes and other dangerous places they send him to, do you get the sense they want to get rid of him?
Shep was just saying that they were telling them to be prepared in case of fires, carry a fire extinguisher, etc.
And I didn't understand why fires would be a hazard, but lots of folks have answered that question for me.
We fired our guns and the British kept a comin
Wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago
We fired once more and they began a running
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico
In the 4 PM WDSU broadcast they said they are confiscating lighters and cigarettes. If that is the case, it is gonna be REAL ugly inside the dome come tomorrow, hurricane hit or not.
Wikipedia says the Superdome is safe up to 120 MPH. No one knows after that. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louisiana_Superdome
Dear Lord!
Prayers for all in harm's way!
Thanks for posting that pic, Tom Guy. My son was telling me a little while ago about a pic like that on one his sites, and I showed yours to him... he said "That IS the picture I saw before!" Incredible! Awesome!
In Baton Rouge but we are inland. So I expect rain, wind, trees down but nothing like New Orleans.
God bless Jackie & keep her safe. What a breath of fresh air!
How would you like to have a"sweet" and have that big guy who said he was going to get one of them try to boot you out. People are civil now but just wait until things start to happen. I really would not want to be there.
That woman is fabulous! We need to clone her.

September 8, 1900. Galveston, Texas. A typically hot and humid day. Women tended to chores; men traveled downtown to work, including Isaac Cline, head of the National Weather Bureau's local office. Cline believed the island was safe from hurricane, but by afternoon, a Category-4 storm proved how wrong he was. In a 2-hour special based on Erik Larson's book Isaac's Storm, weather experts, historians, and survivors' descendents guide us through that horrific day that claimed over 6,000.

GERALDO is now drawing in the sand with his perdicted path of katrina
what's the verse about the cannon and the alligator?
Never one to defend Geraldo - I believe he was reading from a weather bulletin which was posted on this thread before he came on. Of course he had to play it in high drama as if the words themselves weren't bad enough.
