Extremely dangerous Hurricane Katrina is bearing down on the North Central Gulf of Mexico and New Orleans metro area. Thousands of people did not evacuate New Orleans. Outer bands of Katrina are reaching the Louisiana coast.
Due to the size and intensity of this storm, all interests in the North Gulf of Mexico should be in their safe locations.

God BLESS that dear gal...she is the REAL south, eh?
LOL!
She usually doesn't SOUND so worried tho . . . during the run-up to the election, one day someone was teasing her about HOward Dean being her father (it might have been Shep) . . . at that she cracked a smile. A disgusted smile, but a smile nonetheless . . .
Yep... Amen. And I bet there will be repenting going on in that Superdome tonight.
Whoever. :) Just aslong as DARI gets the weeknight-anchor job!
all the media is in "stating the obvious mode".
Florida Power and Light is saying that power will be restored by FRIDAY.
For 90% by TUESDAY.
Never mind that FL residents pay 3% extra to avoid all this.
Gas prices at the pump will go up in NANOSECONDS, they will decline in time for the next ice age.
He's going to smell them when that wind starts howling outside...let's see how long it takes him.
Can you please translate for the weather ignorant?
I admire those folks (FEMA, Entergy, etc) traveling to that area to be ready for anything that might happen so they can help are brave...they are heroes!
WINTER is around the corner...I am sure the people up north who rely on heating oil would see life and death issues as more important that people worried about their gas prices...
I'd go as far as VERY bad. It's pretty much only a matter of scientific degree at this point.
Thanks for the details. Can you explain the significance of an eyewall replacement, please?
I flipped over to MSNBC and good grief! Chris Matthews is on the job tonight, covering Katrina. "it's a powerful looking ocean", he says, now going to talk to Mary Landrieu. I feel soo much better knowing Chris is now MSNBC's weather guy.
FNC (Shep): Very difficult to drive right now.
Awwww....I'm tearing up reading what you just wrote. Mrs. B is a lucky gal.
Just got back from filling up our car. Told hubby we needed to do it NOW. Gas prices hadn't gone up yet, but the man working there told me he's already expecting it - tonight. I paid $2.69. I have no idea what it's going to go up to with it hitting $70 in Singapore today already?

poor thing
Seriously, would you accept French aid if it was offered?
