Last night Melanie Morgan, Howard Kaloogian and a couple others (including myself) all had dinner in Dallas, Texas following the "You Don't Speak for Me, Cindy" Tour and rally in Crawford, Texas organized by Move America Forward and Free Republic.
Howard and Melanie wanted to figure out the best ways to thank Free Republic. They're thinking about sending out a letter, calling individual FReepers and a couple other steps since Free Republic once again played such a crucial role in fighting for the side of freedom, liberty, and support for our country's national security, values and heritage.
I suggested Howard and Mel do a post here at FR. Daunted by trying to figure out how to log in and make a post (with or without html) they instead asked if I could post something for them. So I told them to draft something up and email it to me and I'd get it up.
I'm sitting here at a Starbucks en route back to Sacramento aboard the motorhome we drove Deborah Johns in (along the caravan route). And in checking my email I found the following....

Message to Free Republic Members,
Once again you have proven yourselves to be the most reliable foot soldiers in the conservative movement.
No matter where or when, no matter how daunting the challenge, we know we can count on Free Republic members to be at the ready to do what it takes to fight for the cause of freedom and liberty.
Your commitment to activism begins at the top of your network and extends to all members. We were so delighted to have Free Republic's founder, Jim Robinson and his wife, make the trek from Fresno down to Crawford with us.
Your members spread the word of the "You Don't Speak for Me, Cindy" Tour to friends, family members and co-workers. You called the news media on our behalf to insist that they cover our activities. You came out to greet us and cheer us on - even when we were running hours late, and despite the fact that often we gave you little advance notice of our arrival into town.
And so many Free Republic Members came out to join the caravan and the giant pro-troop rally in Crawford, Texas on Saturday.
There is a special thanks to the crew that was in Crawford in advance of the event -- doing the hard work of getting our site ready, helping with the program, providing food and beverage, and all the other great amenities that are too numerous to mention here.
It is no exaggeration to say that we could never have achieved the success we had on this trip without your direct participation, assistance and leadership. Our troops serving in the U.S. military and their families have once again been well served by your commitment to the principles that unite your membership.
Please accept this email as just one of many ways we wish to express our deepest appreciation for your help and admiration for your solid adherence to your beliefs. May you continue to speak out, take action and help move America forward without hesitation into the future.
Sincerely yours,
Melanie Morgan & Howard Kaloogian

Ditto!

LOL! Not an unusual experience for those who have a chance to peek behind the Leftist Media show. I once saw a group of about 20 people markching in a tight circle in a tight shot in front of a TV camera, holding signs and chanting. I'm sure it looked like a big rally on TV , but in real life it was ridiculous. Wish I had a camcorder at that moment, but I'll bet the view is common.
I hope the video from this event is optimized---run through a good PC editing program, transferred to DVD, and reproduced at low cost for mass distribution. The DVD could icnlude instructions for lobbying local news channels to show some footage.
Super, Impeach 98. Thank YOU for your dedication and hard work.
Oh, yes, they are, Friend. You did what I wished I could. And, you spoke with a clear voice for me.
I thank you.
We thank God for you and all those wonderful parents and families of our service men and women. This is honor, morals, values, fidelity, loyalty... and in the secular humanism of today they can't understand, it sounds too much like religion...but they will. I will pray that you continue the work you have begun. I truly believe by this stand you have saved a lot of our soldiers lives. I am here at your disposal should you need me...I am also sure everyone else feels the same.
We followed all of you there with our hearts, we prayed mightily, made every stop with you, drank every thankful sip of cold water provided and stood in the Chow Line waiting for that BBQ.
We stayed up really late, as if we were all grown-up and the parents got to go out for a change.
Still we waited... To the MSM, it would seem we didn't exist, but we knew this would happen.
One by one, by streaming talk radio from there, Philly and elsewhere... we heard. We celebrated as a family when the transcribed phone messages and first photos started to roll in. We exhaled after waiting so long.
We picked ourselves up, kicked the dust from our feet and went full metal to the press by phone and email.
A lot of young republicans and converts saw the pictures (the horsemen, flags in hand, ten commandments, the MOAFlags, families, picnics and loving messages)....and for the first time said "I just realized what America means".
Vets who thought about how they were treated when they got back decided at the last minute to stand up and make the trek, exclaiming "Never again"... a lot of them with medical problems.
We thank you for giving our lives even more meaning and letting the troops know we love them and that their country has not abandoned them. We know we must do more...and we will, thanks to you.
Great teamwork all!
Everybody involved in this needs to be thanked for their great dedication and hard work. It's always nice to see "our side" get involved in things like this, since the left has owned this far too long. We do such a much better job of it. We can't let them do to our Iraq Vets what they did to our Vietnam Vets.
no thanks needed...just doing our duty.
Thank you so much. The event was fabulous. So thrilled you were about to get such a wonderful turnout and I know the Freepers always play an important part. I couldn't make this trip but did my share during the recount in 2000 and what a neat group. Bless all of you who represented us all so well.
As a FReeper, special thanks to Jim Rob and Sheila for making the trip. I know that when I saw their picture in the tent (front and center) it gave me chills and I knew this was destined for great things!
God Bless America and God Bless Free Republic!
Also, a round of applause to the 70 or so patriots who showed up for a "Support the troops!" rally Friday night outside of Walter Reed - anchored of course by the core heroes of the D.C. chapter of FR.
[standing ovation]
Amen to that!
Now that was an interesting post.
Who got lost?
:)
The "caravan" went south on I25 in Albuquerque vs east on I40 and an hour and a half later they figured it out thus losing 3 hours on their schedule.....They arrived in Amarillo at the rally late but everyone held out and stayed cept for a few folks that lived a hundred or so miles away that had came over to Amarillo.......it was funny to kid the folks about it when they arrived......A good time regardless.
Stay safe !
I presume that you have already seen this, but just in case...
What y'all did for America is thanks enough for me!
I know diddly squat about video cameras but would love to see a humorous take done on the absolute phoniness of the anti-war crowd's machinations in collusion with the MSM at this event that tried to give us one impression when (don't look behind the curtain) all the time...voila! "Cindy, Cindy, can we just take that over again...just move your hand here...can you cry a little?" MORONS! They got caught.
I once saw a photograph of the famous war photograph James Nachtwey (sp?) doing exactly the same thing with a little old Palestinian lady and her baby. The picture of her in her black weeds holding a child was heartwrenching, until you stepped back and saw the same media circus surrounding her and she was probably on the fifth 'take'. I've really come to despise the Press and TV people and their phoniness that asks you to repeat an emotion for the camera. If the emotion is authentic, you CAN'T really repeat it and to try degrades you. I found a version of it here...it's not the little old lady, but you get the idea.
