HEADS UP: There is an anti-war protest planned by the Westboro Baptist Church in Martinsville, IN tomorrow during a Soldier's funeral.
I first heard about it was from a chatter earlier today on MSN chat who was requesting help with bail tomorrow. I subsequently visited the church's website and found confirmation of their plans.
The chatter stated that the entire town would be turning out for the funeral and that people are "ready and waiting" for these protestors. He also stated that he wasn't sure the local PD would protect these protestors. I am hoping cooler heads prevail...

This is the crazy cult led by Rev. Fred Phelps, of "godhatesfags.com" fame. He takes his little church, comprised mostly of his family members, to soldiers' funerals in several states. According to this bunch, our casualties in the WOT are some sort of retribution from God for our acceptance of homosexuals. Yeah, I know it makes no sense.
Lots of folks like to point to the Phelps family as examples of right-wingers gone bad, but the reality is that they are Democrats. There's a couple of pictures floating around FR of Rev. Phelps with Al Gore. And some other FReeper dug up the records of campaign donations by members of the Phelps family, and they were to Democrats.

What I'm wondering is where these pukes get their funding. Lots of travel (including a trip to Sweden) for the least-liked "church" group in the USA.

Tomorrow's a Sunday. Shouldn't these people be in church, and not doing anything unnecessary, and observe a day of rest, to "keep the Lord's Day holy?"

Unacceptable. There is no low that the left will not go. I think by the next election we should show how patriotic the left really is.
Thanks for the ping. No decent citizen, even of the paleo Right (like me) or the Left, is going countenance this sort of repugnant travesty. I trust the local cops will be well up to keeping these nutcases well away from the funeral; it doesn't need any vigilantes, God help us.

Of course, one day it'll be Phelps' estate that will have to do the filing, as he will be too dead to bother...

The man who heads this so-called church is s psycotic disbarred lawyer who "prays" for the deaths of US soldiers.
I'm not calling for violence but would never convict the man who shot him.
They are looking for trouble in Martinsville and they're likely to find some.....

If this is Fred Phelps' gang of sickos, I wouldn't lose any sleep if I heard the townsfolk beat the sh!t out of them and left them bleeding on the sidewalk.
