HEADS UP: There is an anti-war protest planned by the Westboro Baptist Church in Martinsville, IN tomorrow during a Soldier's funeral.
I first heard about it was from a chatter earlier today on MSN chat who was requesting help with bail tomorrow. I subsequently visited the church's website and found confirmation of their plans.
The chatter stated that the entire town would be turning out for the funeral and that people are "ready and waiting" for these protestors. He also stated that he wasn't sure the local PD would protect these protestors. I am hoping cooler heads prevail...
Here is the info on the planned protest copied from the Westboro Baptist Site:
August 28, 2005 1:30 pm 2:00 pm Martinsville, IN Neal & Summers Mortuary, 110 E. Poston Rd., for funeral of Army Staff Sgt. Jeremy W. Doyle

No, I haven't but that's an excellent idea. Any folks in MICHIGAN, or headed to DC for the march on 9/11 please pass on the word.
Here are their picketing plans that are directly related to troops and have been announced on their site:
PLANNED WBC PROTESTS directly related to our troops:
9/1/05:
Funeral/Wake for Army Staff Sgt. Brian Morris - 1 pm Thur. Sept. 1 - Eley Funeral Home, Constantine, Mich.
9/11/05:
"America Supports You Freedom Walk" - 10 am - Sunday, September 11, 2005 - Walk will be from the Pentagon to Arlington Cemetery.

Looks like they are planning to be on the Memorial Bridge in the Arlington National Cemetery for the 9/11 event. So disrespectful...

Saw you have several ping lists regarding the middle east and Freeper Action. Thought you may want to know about these events (see post #142 on thread).
Thanks,

Thanks for the ping, and for posting the pics. There's got to be a way to shut those fools down, once and for all. God hates fags, indeed...

They tried it at a funeral in Marblehead, MA a month or so ago. They got chased off by the MA state police.

Whohoo!!! Our local Fox station just showed a full screen shot of my sign plugging Freerepublic!
It must be because I told the Fox cameraman that Freerepublic just adores Fox.

I was there before the protesters arrived and waited until it was all over to leave. Yes, it was a nice turnout, both from us and the police. We were across the the road from the idiots, to be honest it was rather a pathetic attempt by them I thought. Police kept everything calmed down, I haven't seen that many here in town since the tornado hit.
I was glad to see that mayor Buskirk let the fire dept. use the ladder trucks to hang the flag again over the procession, the last time they did that was when a deputy was killed in the line of duty. We may have our problems here in Martinsville but no one can say we are not patriotic or 100% behind our troops. If the protesters did anything at all it was to harden and unify the people who saw them, honestly I can't believe they do any good at all, in fact they probably are hurting their cause every time they do this by swelling the ranks of other organizations who would counter people like this.
Over all it was a nice day, a little hot, but pretty much like I expected it would be. Idiots outnumbered 30 to 1, plenty of supporters on our side, and a lot of police looking to keep the peace. Would have been a lot more fun if it wasn't under so sad of reasons.
