Anti-War protest at Soldier's funeral - TOMORROW
Westboro Baptist Church & anonymous chatroom poster | 8/27/05 | LibertyRocks

Posted on 08/27/2005 8:34:56 PM PDT by LibertyRocks

HEADS UP: There is an anti-war protest planned by the Westboro Baptist Church in Martinsville, IN tomorrow during a Soldier's funeral.

I first heard about it was from a chatter earlier today on MSN chat who was requesting help with bail tomorrow. I subsequently visited the church's website and found confirmation of their plans.

The chatter stated that the entire town would be turning out for the funeral and that people are "ready and waiting" for these protestors. He also stated that he wasn't sure the local PD would protect these protestors. I am hoping cooler heads prevail...

Here is the info on the planned protest copied from the Westboro Baptist Site:

August 28, 2005 1:30 pm – 2:00 pm Martinsville, IN Neal & Summers Mortuary, 110 E. Poston Rd., for funeral of Army Staff Sgt. Jeremy W. Doyle

Go for it. This is one time I'd love to see the left get a strong dose of it's own medicine.

After Action Report of the Freep in Martinsville Indiana

A small group of protesters organized right outside a mortuary today where the funeral of Staff Sgt. Jeremy Doyle, was being held.

Sgt. Doyle, from Martinsville Indiana, was killed while serving his country in Iraq.

About thirty police stood in a long line right across the street from the 6 or 7 member group who were dragging American Flags on the ground and waving God hates America signs.

.

Counter protesters in front of the mortuary who numbered about 25 mostly local people held up American flags and a sign that said “God Bless our Troops “. One counter protester with his wife and children accused the the small group of being a cult.

At one point the spontaneous counter protesters started singing “God Bless America”. The smaller but louder group that appeared to be highly staged responded by singing God hates America to the same chorus.

Lots of media were there taking photos and interviewing. Everyone I talked to believed that the protesters were not really Christians but a paid for hate-America group and did not speak for any Christians that they were acquainted with. One local woman thanked me for helping to support our troops as she wiped away tears.

Although some locals feared that angered toward the hate group's presence at the funeral might spill into violence, the protests were conducted without incident.

The small Anti-America group left before the large supportive crowd gathered. Hundreds of people lined the town square.

There was one heated discussion with a local man who said President Bush was killing our children. I reminded him that our troops are adults who volunteered their service and the majority want to complete their mission. About five others standing close by agreed and voiced their opinions loudly.

A soldier in uniform was among those who stated that he supports the mission and our President. He made it clear that he made the decision to serve his country himself and wants to go back to Iraq to help his buddy's.

As the funeral procession of Sgt. Doyle rode through the center of his small town, the large crowd of supporters released Red White and Blue balloons and waved their flags high.

Did you go to the protest? Man it was hot out there but it was worth it. There were so many supporters, little kids standing out in the heat for hours waiting to wave a flag for this fallen soldier. It was heart warming. The kooks left right after their photo op with the media.

Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for going. The boy deserves everything we can give...a hero proved in liberating strife.

“Build them monuments of marble, surmounted with statues of Victory. Cut their names in enduring tablets of stone. Tell of their heroic deeds in story, and sing of them in song. Keep their memories green in our hearts forevermore. And yet we will not pay one half the great debt of gratitude and love we owe.”--General Smith D. Atkins, Address at the Dedication of the Stephenson County Soldiers' Monument, 4 July, 1871

They're not just anti-American, they're pro-tyranny.

Saddam was a tyrant and they're protesting the war that removed him from power.......and his sons too.

Hey Cindy....tell us why you side with the rapes and mass graves!

"...waving God hates America signs.."

I suppose it's too late for them to get down to New Orleans tonight? Plenty of cameras. The "Wrath of God" being wrought on "decadent New Orleans". I would think that getting themselves and their signs out on one of the leading edge islands or levis would REALLY get their point across.
