Hurricane warnings and watches are posted. Hurricane Katrina continues to strengthen in the Gulf of Mexico. The forecast models continue to converge upon New Orleans. However, all interests in the northern Gulf of Mexico should follow the path of this very large and dangerous storm, and be prepared for a major hurricane landfall. There have been reports of coastal animals leaving in droves for higher ground. Meanwhile, New Orleans continues to suggest that residents evacuate.

I have never seen this before with a hurricane, look farther our from the hurricane, looks like a outer band doesn't it ? or a circle that is being formed around the hurricane.
A lot of people are concentrating on the city.
But what about the West Bank? There's a lot of people in NEw Orleans who'd rather see the suburbs taken out before the city falls.
The first outer rain bands appear to be nearly to the outer coast of Louisiana as of 3:02am...

The only major road in and out is I-10. There are lesser 2 lane highways bleeding off going south and alongside I-10.
Getting into and out of the city is a regular headache for many people.
anyone watching channel 6?
news lady talking about how they may all lose their houses.
The streets are wet. It's already raining. Too late for those poor souls...

Cool -- I always look for you over there, but it never dawned on me you might have a different nic. I used my FR nic when I signed up there, but I don't post much.
Good luck getting settled into grad school.
You have to know that people are buzzing furiously about this. Unless there's a language problem, no one there could avoid knowing this is coming, if they're watching the tube or out and about and conscious.
From this one I can not tell were it ends. Check it out! But look upby Florida at the dark ey and nose? Do you see it?
It reminds me of what I saw in the 911 pictures. Not the demon but first I saw a wonderful face.
It was like He came for His!
