Hurricane warnings and watches are posted. Hurricane Katrina continues to strengthen in the Gulf of Mexico. The forecast models continue to converge upon New Orleans. However, all interests in the northern Gulf of Mexico should follow the path of this very large and dangerous storm, and be prepared for a major hurricane landfall. There have been reports of coastal animals leaving in droves for higher ground. Meanwhile, New Orleans continues to suggest that residents evacuate.

I think you're right.
Maybe they should start taking the attitude of folks that don't often get hit with major snowstorms, often - but do the "prep" as soon as there is a prediction of a couple inches.
She's taken on the classic look of extremely powerful storms. The eye is massive, as it contracts... she should strengthen more.

This is a web address to get a live web cam of bourbon street at Fat Harry's. A pic of a guy taking his own picture with a cell phone cam at 11pm edt; at streetcar passing right at 12:00 am edt.
Pretty slow for pedestrians, but there are vehicles parked there; presumably the owners are in Fat Harry's...

Are you speaking of a face?

Is it just me or in the past 30 to 45 minutes on the radar loop did Katrina's outer bands tighten up a whole bunch?
Hopefully people are picking up hitchhikers
Just devastating ...I'm getting punchy and twisted in my fatigue here .. I'm thinking
the French Penny ... SO bad.
I am not talking about the hurricane itself, look at the band father out from the hurricane, as if a corral is being formed around the hurricane.
Try the "OysterCam" at 7pm last night; the Acme Oyster House is packed. Both the tables, and the 'bar'. Hope their bellies are full...
Reagan80
No,,, I am not talking about the hurricane itself, look at the band farther our from the hurricane that is forming.
I like the Eek! The Cat icon you use.
Thanks. :)
Well, i'm off to bed... supposed to be moving to NY tomorrow for grad school. Darn hurricane.
I use and swear by that website for my GOES data needs. I don't remember how I stumbled upon it, but I've used it for several hurricane seasons now.
I'm sorry .. I just don't remember.
That's just indicative of strong outflow.
Could you post the link to the picture that you are looking at please.
Thanks
Ms Caseys Daughter
Yeah, I should have been in bed hours ago. I'm off to bed too.
