Hurricane warnings and watches are posted. Hurricane Katrina continues to strengthen in the Gulf of Mexico. The forecast models continue to converge upon New Orleans. However, all interests in the northern Gulf of Mexico should follow the path of this very large and dangerous storm, and be prepared for a major hurricane landfall. There have been reports of coastal animals leaving in droves for higher ground. Meanwhile, New Orleans continues to suggest that residents evacuate.

Yeah. I'm worried about people who can't get out :( Not everyone has a car. When are they going to have this presser already!
Has the NO decided on mandatory evacuation YET?
OK guys. All batten down here at work. Logging off, wrapping up, and buggin' out. Stay safe!
and God bless!
You are absolutely in our thoughts and prayers. Please keep us posted of your plans. We are here for you.
Godspeed, sir.
Stay safe! God Speed!
Be safe!
What does that mean? Reporters ordered out of the area?
Take care--prayers for your safety. Check in with us when you can.
God bless you!
Yeah. Bugout is a military evacuation.
I think they are deciding if they do the roads will clog and many 1000's would be stuck on the highway...it will be safer to stay past a certain point..were I don't know
The last report was the 1150 PM CDT. I remember seeing 50 footers from that buoy during Ivan and it stayed moored. This development makes my stomach sink a little more. The fact that the water is already rising along DI and GS is also very disheartening. Cantore just said "this is not a movie, this is the real thing." Where are the poo pooers for this storm? I haven't heard a peep.
This is HUGE and HUGH, even.
Steve Harrigan, Foxnews, is reporting that gulf casinos in Mississippi have closed !!!!
Run for your lives!!!!!
God Bless.....stay safe.
Two big Mississippi interstates just converted to all north. Sorry, I didn't get the numbers.
Praying for you all. Hurricane force winds 85 miles out, eye 22 miles wide , moving at 10 mph that is 19 hours to pass over. The tropical winds go out even futher.
It's 9:10 AM....Where is Nagin? Tick, Tick, Tick....
