For all my conservative friends: Anyone who has ever lived in the Boston area is probably familiar with the Boston Phoenix, a far-left newspaper. Its Aug. 26, 2005, issue had an article decrying the fact that some companies give to conservative causes (pp. 18-19). It then listed the companies & their products, warning their readers not to buy these products. Im using their article for the exact opposite purpose to get people to buy from these companies. The owners/founders/CEOs of these companies contribute large sums to support conservative causes and candidates. Products made by these companies are:
AdvantEdge
Ensure
Glucerna
PediaSure
Similac
Happy Pet pet foods
Honey Creek Farms pet foods
Natures Variety pet foods

I believe Target also gives to liberal causes.....Homosexual rights, pro-abort
Keel, except I can't help you with the tampax, and if you catch me drinking wine in a bag its intervention time.
Nice catch. What? No Ben and Jerry's?
Many of my favorite products/stores are on the list. Yay!
Yeah, when I saw that on the list I did a double-take, because @ least 1 fellow Freeper had mentioned weeks ago that Target's boss gives to liberal causes. According to the "Phoenix," however, chairman/CEO Robert Ulrich donated @ least $100,000 to the RNC for the 2004 election.
CAN SOMEBODY HELP US OUT ON THIS????
Some of the products listed (Always, Bounce and Charmin) are made by Proctor & Gamble. But P&G makes near 300 products. Everything from deodorant to dog food. Check it out here.
Disclaimer, I have no connection with P&G.
On the list, Always through Zest, are all owned by Proctor & Gamble.
a lot of these companies give to both parties. Target used to be a big Planned Parenthood supporter but I heard they stopped
Good to know... yet, I am not a "political" buyer at all, hence I look for price and quality. Nevertheless, I try my hardest not too buy stuff made in China.
That's strange! I'd say both Target AND P&G support very liberal causes. Target won't allow the Salvation Army to place their kettles in front of Target stores during Christmas (the Salvation Army won't give same-sex health benefits) and P&G was boycotted by the AFA.
Aso, Target is owned by the family of Mark Dayton, the wacky liberal Senator from Minnesota.
I'm glad Charmin is on the list.
thanks ping
i agree about target. they also are not very supportive of our military. years ago, before the whole salvation army thing, i decided i wouldn't shop at target because they are so pro-homosexual. then when the issue came up over the salvation army, i decided i would never darken their doorway again. they have nothing i need that i can't find somewhere else.
OOOPS!!! "May the author" is supposed to be "MAYBE the author..."
thanks for the list
"BuyBlue"- a liberal website- gives Target a very low, strong red rating.
Here is what they say on Target: "Target currently has a 17% BuyBlue rating due to political contributions for the 2003-2004 election cycle. Target executives contributed solely to Republican candidates and Target's Chairman and CEO contributed fairly heavily. Target also has a Political Action Committee which contributed very heavily in the 2003-2004 election cycle weighing in at $173,240 (21.00% D, 78.00% R)."
Companies BuyBlue loves, with a dark blue better than 80% rating (and therefore conversely we should make an effort NOT to patronize):

The one I shop in has large military shoppers
