Anymouse saw and talked to Jerry Patterson walking up the road in Crawford.
Born in Houston, Texas on November 15, 1946 Jerry Patterson has devoted his life to public service. He served his country as a U.S. Marine for over twenty years and served as state Senator for six. Recently, he has also served as state relations director for the American Red Cross.
As State Senator from District 11, Pattersons major legislative successes included passage of the historic concealed handgun law, a constitutional amendment allowing home equity lending, the state coastal management plan and the creation of the Texas State Veterans Home Program. He earned a reputation as a no-nonsense but determined voice for individual freedom and constitutionality. He also worked diligently to honor his fellow veterans.
Patterson graduated Texas A&M, Class of 1969 and received his commission in the United States Marine Corps. In 1972 he volunteered for duty in Vietnam and served there until the cease-fire. He was later designated as a Naval Flight Officer at Pensacola, Florida and served in Marine fighter squadrons until his retirement from the Marine Corps Reserve as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1993.
Jerry and his wife Jennifer reside in Austin. His daughter Emily currently attends South Texas College of Law and lives in Houston. His son Travis is a graduate of Texas A&M, where he was commissioned a Lieutenant in the U.S. Marines. He now serves on active duty as a U.S. Marine attack helicopter pilot.

Hope he runs into Sheehan's dopey ex-marine bodyguard. Good description. I have yet to meet a Marine who used the term "ex-Marine". In both Scott Ritter's case and this guy's, I think it's entirely appropriate.

They say there's no such thing as an ex-Marine. "They" are wrong.

Patterson's son, First Lt. Travis Patterson is also a U.S. Marine. Patterson's is a real military family.
Patterson, 28, who lives in Houston, is fighting in Iraq.

Saw Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson walking among the assembled crowd of troop supporters. Half way expected him to go up and speak, but I think he wanted to let the troop's family members and organizers do the talking.
The only time I saw him heading for the stage area was when the lone disruptor tried to assault Kristinn and the speaker called for a law enforcement officer to come back stage. I guess the marine in Jerry kicked in and he coolly headed for the action to help out.
I'll have my photos up tomorrow on whichever thread is collecting photos of the Crawford event. I have one photo of Jerry taking a break under a tree, enjoying a BBQ sandwich made by those amazing Austin firefighters. Boy, that BBQ was good. :)

Hope Colonel Patterson gives Sheehan and sycophants the old Clint Eastwood glare. Don't know if Jerry made it over to the loony leftist's big top or not, but he did have his aviator sunglasses on and a serious expression on his face. :)
