Just talked to Basil on site in Crawford, Texas. Currently there are about 100 folks there helping to set up. They have not received word about the caravan arrival in Waco yet. JimRob is riding with the caravan. She thinks it might get to Crawford around 1:00 p.m.
Basil says the stage is set up, the sound system is excellent and they have hung the most beautiful banners overnighted by W04Man on the stage. A big thanks for the banners, they are much appreciated!
Someone arrived early and hung yellow ribbons everywhere.
They have an American flag that is about 50 feet by 40 feet. Children of military personnel serving in the Middle East have written notes to their parents on the stripes of this flag. A very touching thing to behold.
The HOT Chapter booth is being unloaded right now. The will sell buttons made by Angelwood to help off set costs.
Someone rented the Community Center for our use so there is access to AC. However, they also have 10 tents set up. And there is a Moonwalk for the kiddos.
To top everything else there is BBQ on the grill! Basil is the official taster and says it is great!
That is all the news I have at the moment. It is hard to get a cell phone connection to Crawford but when I hear more I will try to update everyone.
Im a married man ...no one listens to me
I wonder what she'll do when Bush returns to DC...
Why would they get arrested?
I don't think so. The song was popular during the Carter years and when the hostages were taken in Iran the yellow ribbons "round the old oak tree" started popping up all over the country.
deport - thank you SO much for these updates!
A man with a sign that said "Let's Roll" was arrested for not standing where he was told. I guess he was in the road. We're trying to find out if he was a "plant".
Thanks, I did. Fox is same old MSM now.
Someone a few posts back made the point that the footage has to be edited and the stories put together so that they can be presented on the newscasts. This is a good point. It'll be interesting to see what the newscasts look like as those stories are completed.
As far as holding off until Monday, don't forget that the folks on our side are working people who have jobs and other commitments during the week..
Absolutely. Which means our folks had to do their thing today. It's just difficult for me to swallow the notion there would be almost zero coverage of 3000+ counterprotesters when the protest has been the dominant story for a weeks now. Even with the media's bias, they can't resist a good drama, and this is good drama.
They do this every year anyway, when a million pro-lifers brave DC in January to mark the anniversary of Roe vs. Wade on the National Mall.
I see your point, but that's a little different, since there's no immediate context and build-up as there has been with the Sheehan thing. Unlike the Roe rally, this 3000-person counterprotest represents the latest twist in a plot line which the media has been reporting on for weeks, breathlessly. To not cover this would be to break continuity in a way that not covering the Roe rally wasn't. The lack of coverage just seems really, really strange -- more than would be explainable only by the media's bias, I think.
On the other hand, the hurricane is giving them a reason to skip the live coverage. Maybe it comes down to bad weather.
Agreed, Justanobody ROCKS!!!! Sir Thumb gives Justanobody 2 thumbs up with a salute. (smile)
That is so incredibly fraught with danger on multiple counts. First off, a stranger following a child home is a HUGE warning beacon. Secondly, any child gullible enough to allow a stranger into their home AT ANY TIME is not fit to be left home alone. Third, if my kid did something that incredibly stupid, they wouldn't be able to sit down for a MONTH.
AUGH!
Okay, thank you.
I heard his wife is an even bigger cheese there, LOL.
Muhammud Ali Jabbar Kahnstein: "I beeleeve that the protests are needed. The Islamic people and the revolution of my people are being supported by these people. Praise be to them. They are doing our work."
Machmed bin Sirhan Sirhan: "The Zionists have finally met their match with the anti-war, anti-crusader peoples of the democrats. I will contribute to their party because I cannot vote. Kerry should have won."
Mary Liberal: "Oh, I'm just so happy we can enjoy each other's company and love. We are truly brothers and sisters in this cause. I don't care about anything but myself and my little world; I don't care about those murdered by terrorists; I don't care about all the children who were murdered by Saddam Hussein. All I care about, and I care more than any Bush supporter, is that that I HATE George Bush and his evil people. I love to say that."
sarcasm off
I used to watch it quite a bit. The host is good enough to get you through it for awhile, but to have the media analyze the media is......well, worth about as much as the 911 commission was.
Hippies!!! I was a hippie wantabe, LOL, now I just think of Cartmann wanting to save South Park from the Hippie Freaks.
not using caps to yell...just to get people's attention :D
Same here, and I have been watching straight for 2 hours; not even a 10 second blurb that there is a pro-troop rally going on. I sent Brit an email, plus several to others at FNC. But alas, to no avail.....not a blip about this rally. I'm beyond disappointed in them, and I have been a fox fan since day one.
Woofie - did you say something?
How are the lefties able to get their pics online?
