Just talked to Basil on site in Crawford, Texas. Currently there are about 100 folks there helping to set up. They have not received word about the caravan arrival in Waco yet. JimRob is riding with the caravan. She thinks it might get to Crawford around 1:00 p.m.
Basil says the stage is set up, the sound system is excellent and they have hung the most beautiful banners overnighted by W04Man on the stage. A big thanks for the banners, they are much appreciated!
Someone arrived early and hung yellow ribbons everywhere.
They have an American flag that is about 50 feet by 40 feet. Children of military personnel serving in the Middle East have written notes to their parents on the stripes of this flag. A very touching thing to behold.
The HOT Chapter booth is being unloaded right now. The will sell buttons made by Angelwood to help off set costs.
Someone rented the Community Center for our use so there is access to AC. However, they also have 10 tents set up. And there is a Moonwalk for the kiddos.
To top everything else there is BBQ on the grill! Basil is the official taster and says it is great!
That is all the news I have at the moment. It is hard to get a cell phone connection to Crawford but when I hear more I will try to update everyone.
On that page on the lower left side there is a question, "Where are We Headed?" It's a polling place with several questions. I participated in the poll and it looked like a pretty good poll for Freepers to freep. Maybe we don't get to these kinds of polls as often as we should.
I did!
Like that tagline...hilarious!
I took it!
Probably right...my wife said the same thing. He just seems uncomfortable with the whole thing.
"During the gathering, there was some idiot with a sign, "Bush is a Dictator," who tried to start trouble...."
I think this is the sign to which you may be referring:
As you can see, this is a Protest Warrior sign and meant to poke fun at the left. They have made some really great signs and are known for infiltrating the lefts media events. According to reports, theses guys were passing through to say hello on their way to infiltrate Camp Cindy and were "hit by friendly fire", LOL. Evidently, all ended well as the guy who tore up the sign said he apologized and shook hands.
Here's a link to the sign collection on the Protest Warriors website (they're hillarious):
Their home page has a link to join.
"Want to be a ProtestWarrior? Sign up now at the ProtestWarrior HQ, to join our new grassroots movement. It's time to take back the streets!"
When I wouldn't let humble chase the hippies he looked so crestfallen.
Our real concern was whether or not the cops would give us the car keys after they tasered, maced and night-sticked him!
Alia, I can't believe that we have been here at FR almost the same length of time and I've never picked up on your posts before (or have I?), but on this thread I have noticed your unsinkable optimism and it is a beautiful thing. (You sound like a Southern lady to me). Thank you.
You are correct.
The signs being dragged away did not have "Protest Warriors" on it.
The coverage on AOL was good and fair. I was surprised.
Sorry, I just felt so bad yesterday for all our freeper friends out there in the hot sun, being ignored.
I am cheered by messages from other posters... like you.
This sign was as appropriate at our rally as waving a fake gun as a joke at an airport.
Why.. thank you WVNan. I'm very glad to meet you too! :)
Good photos!
The nutjobs down the road would agree with every word.
Even though meant in clever sarcasm, the opposition has degraded
to the point where they "believe" all that the sign implies.
The signage in question is more appropriate to infiltration
of the opposition for effect than it is at a patriotic rally.
This is the post that has SerpentDove's video link that I was telling you about.
Wow! That is the best picture report yet. Please get that kid signed up ASAP. He's brilliant! Thank him for us.
Just wanted you to know that I am a Marine, over here in Fallujah fighting the good fight, and I just wanted to "THANK YOU" all for standing up in TEXAS and Fighting the good fight against those who really don't know any better and refuse to see the light.
"GOD Bless" & "Stay Blessed"
