Hurricane Katrina Live Thread, Part III
NHC-NOAA ^ | 27 August 2005 | NHC-NOAA

Posted on 08/26/2005 10:25:04 PM PDT by NautiNurse

Hurricane Katrina continues to strengthen in the Gulf of Mexico. Currently, the forecast models are converging upon New Orleans. However, all interests in the northern Gulf of Mexico should follow the path of this storm, and be prepared for a major hurricane landfall. Throughout Friday, the official track forecasts moved west, as Hurricane Katrina delayed making the anticipated northwest turn.

The following links are self-updating.

How can they get schoolbuses back into the bayous? What about all the prisons? I didn't hear the Mayor or Governor down there say word one about how or even IF they intend to evacuate the backwoods areas, of which there are many. Are there enough boats?

Knowing how fouled up the government of Louisiana is, I fear the worst as far as loss of life goes.

Just came back to the computer after dinner & a rented video with my husband, and what do you know, the place is seemingly shut down at 1030. Good to see.

Check it out

Did anyone see the news this evening where they said that many vacationers in New Orleans were foreigners and didn't understand that a hurricane was forecast for New Orleans. They didn't understand the need to evacuate. How sad!

Louisiana isn't that backwards. The poorest folks without transportation in harms way are in Orleans parish. The local people are good at taking care of those who need help. Granted the stereotypes makes us all look ignorant and backwards.

Don't know about the bayous, but I think they have to take care of the prisoners. I was just talking about the city of New Orleans, and the people who don't have cars to leave there.
