Keanu's new love, 59 (Diane Keaton)
Daily Mail (UK) ^ | 8-25-05 | Staff

Posted on 08/26/2005 8:25:30 AM PDT by veronica

Keanu Reeves was reported last night to be embroiled in a romance with Diane Keaton, the actress who is nearly 20 years his senior.

Reeves, 40, was said to have dumped actress girlfriend Lynn Collins, 28, to date the 59-yearold Oscar winner.

Reeves met Miss Keaton when they appeared together in the 2003 comedy Something's Gotta Give. He began dating Miss Collins three months ago after they met on the set of the forthcoming drama Il Mare.

A friend told the U.S. magazine Star that Reeves was 'hit hard' by turning 40 last year.

Breaking up with Miss Collins 'kind of said goodbye to a way of living he's outgrown'.

Well, considering that I'm older than you by a bunch....

There's NOTHING attractive about a 40 year old boy.

Speak for yourself. ;)

When I was younger, I would have said that it was all ok, whatever cranks their clocks, but since I've gotten older myself, I realize that people are SUPPOSED to pass through the progressive stages of life, occupying the right slot at the right age, helping others, and showing younger people how to lead a rich, useful, and good life.

That is what you believe, and it sounds good on paper. But not all of use fit into that mold. Maybe all I can show younger folks that you can be happy just being yourself. That somethings don't get fixed about yourself until about 5 minutes before you die.

Honestly, that is the only advice I can offer anyone right now.

That and I believe RV's are the work of Satan.

That if you try to fit into slots that others tell you to fit in, you'll be living in hell; miserable until you die a sad old person just wishing you hadn't listened to all those dang fools telling you what you couldn't do.

My only purpose in life right now is to write down all the stories that I know and not end up in jail at some point.

PS-
My late hubby was older, won't make that mistake again.

PSS-"Busy, helpful and giving" sounds like church speak for 'your life is over hun'.

No thanks.

???

Are you saying that men don't belong with younger women? If the gap is 20 years, I would agree. But, in my experience, women are as emotionally gifted and ahead of men in that area as men are physically gifted and ahead. They can help each other, and something of an age gap, with the male being older, is, I think, beneficial. No more than half a generation (roughly 15 years) or so, though-- if the gap is a full generation, things get weird. And, at younger ages (20's or so, I think the gap should be no more than 7 or 8 years.)

"I run with scissors and I don't play well with others."

I don't have a hard time believing either of those statements.

Good! Better than being 'Busy, helpful and giving' when you'd rather be living ;)

Been there, done that...saw too many miserable women trapped in a world they didn't want to be in. It really effect my view of what makes a happy life.

And I agree with Captain K...a woman can be just as 'damaged' or daddified by an older man. It does go both ways, darlin'.

And a younger man can be made happy by an younger woman. Just not everyone sees your kind of world as a happy place.

Some of here are just to look at the pictures of Keanu, and to envy Diane's good fortune. ;-)

What if they don't want to have children? Or are you one of these people that think you should burn in hell for not procreating?

Well, being busy, helpful and giving IS living, for me. I am the most blessed person I know. Of course, it helps that my 59 year-old ex-Marine husband is more fit than most 40 year-olds. If he didn't slow down for me hiking up those mountain trails, I wouldn't have a prayer of catching him. ;) God save me from any 40 year-old current or former Marine!!!

Good thinking there. What a plan.

When Neo is in the Matrix with Trinity, here's the gal he really dreams about:

"What if they don't want to have children? Or are you one of these people that think you should burn in hell for not procreating?"

No, I don't believe that, and I don't believe that contraception is wrong, either. I do believe, however, that what people want isn't necessarily what is best for them, and that God gets to vote on the issue, and that human nature is such that there should properly be an orderly progression to life.

My husband was 45 when we met, had no children and wished for none. But, he was happy to help me raise my two daughters. And, although I would have been delighted to have a child with him if he had wanted that, I didn't feel the need for more children for myself. So, for us, not procreating was a good answer. But, my point is that despite not procreating, my husband still progressed on to that fatherhood role.

Neither fatherhood nor step-fatherhood is in every man's future, but reverting to an earlier stage of maturation or staying stuck in the same place is not a good thing.

That is what make the world so great. I fell in love with Diane Keaton while watching (70's) the movie Sleeper! I never lost the love.

It brings to mind the Burt Reynolds, Dinah Shore, relationship of 20 years ago or so. Burt has said Dinah was great and he loved her very much and was experiencing terrible loss when she died. His book which I have not read tells all.

Burt in his day was top box office for eight straight years or was it 12 straight years. He lamented he wasn't mature enough to not let Sally Field get away. They were very much in love ... "Smokey and the Bandit" days.

but reverting to an earlier stage of maturation

Unless you were extraordinarily immature for your age at 40, I don't see the correlation you're trying to make.

Shades of John Travolta and his first love who also was about 20 years older and died of cancer, right in his arms, or some such BS. Remember that?

Hope this isn't the Death Knell for Diane, LOL!
