Left Targets Troops They Pretend To Support (Rush Mentions Free Republic D.C Chapter!)

The left loves to try to tell us, "Don't challenge us! We support the troops; we just don't support the war. Our buddies at the Cybercast News Service, or Cyber News Service, report: "The Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., the current home of hundreds of wounded veterans from the war in Iraq, has been the target of weekly anti-war demonstrations since March. The protesters hold signs that read 'Maimed for Lies' and 'Enlist here and die for Halliburton.' The anti-war demonstrators, who obtain their protest permits from the Washington, D.C., police department, position themselves directly in front of the main entrance to the Army Medical Center, which is located in northwest D.C., about five miles from the White House. Among the props used by the protesters are mock caskets, lined up on the sidewalk to represent the death toll in Iraq. Code Pink Women for Peace, one of the groups backing anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan's vigil outside President Bush's ranch in Crawford Texas, organizes the protests at Walter Reed as well. Some conservative supporters of the war call the protests, which have been ignored by the establishment media, 'shameless' and have taken to conducting counter-demonstrations at Walter Reed. '[The anti-war protesters] should not be demonstrating at a hospital. A hospital is not a suitable location for an anti-war demonstration,' said Bill Floyd of the D.C. chapter of" the Freepers. The Freepers out there standing across the street from the anti-war demonstrators. This is back on August 19th.

Now, "According to the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, nearly 4,000 individuals involved in the Iraq war were treated at the facility as of March of this year, 1,050 of whom were wounded in battle. One anti-war protester, who would only identify himself as 'Luke,' told Cybercast News Service that 'the price of George Bush's foreign policy can be seen right here at Walter Reed -- young men who returned from Iraq with their bodies shattered after George Bush sent them to war for a lie.' Luke accused President Bush of 'exploiting American soldiers' while 'oppressing the other nations of earth.' The president 'has killed far too many people,' he added. On Aug. 19, as the anti-war protesters chanted slogans such as 'George Bush kills American soldiers,' Cybercast News Service observed several wounded war veterans entering and departing the gates of Walter Reed, some with prosthetic limbs. Most of the demonstrations have been held on Friday evenings, a popular time for the family members of wounded soldiers to visit the hospital. But the anti-war activists were unapologetic when asked whether they considered such signs as 'Maimed for Lies' offensive to wounded war veterans and their families. 'I am more offended by the fact that many were maimed for life. I am more offended by the fact that they (wounded veterans) have been kept out of the news,' said Kevin McCarron, a member of the anti-war group Veterans for Peace.

"Kevin Pannell, who was recently treated at Walter Reed and had both legs amputated after an ambush grenade attack near Baghdad in 2004, considers the presence of the anti-war protesters in front of the hospital 'distasteful.' When he was a patient at the hospital, Pannell said he initially tried to ignore the anti-war activists camped out in front of Walter Reed, until witnessing something that enraged him. 'We went by there one day and I drove by and [the anti-war protesters] had a bunch of flag-draped coffins laid out on the sidewalk. That, I thought, was probably the most distasteful thing I had ever seen. Ever,' said Pannell, a member of the Army's First Cavalry Division... 'You know that 95% of the guys in the hospital bed lost guys whenever they got hurt and survivors' guilt is the worst thing you can deal with,' Pannell said.... 'We don't like them and we don't like the fact that they can hang their signs and stuff on the fence at Walter Reed,' he said. '[The wounded veterans] are there to recuperate. Once they get out in the real world, then they can start seeing that stuff (anti-war protests). I mean Walter Reed is a sheltered environment and it needs to stay that way.'"

The story goes on and on and on. It's on the Drudge Report page if you want to access it. I've only shared with you about the half the data, but you get the drift here. So don't tell me that you support the troops but you don't support the war. The troops don't want to see you there; the troops don't want any part of you at Walter Reed and yet you flock there. It's just another indication of the total crackup that's happening on the left and another bit of evidence, folks, that no matter -- and by the way, there's some polls out, the media just having an orgasm today, ABC has a poll, headline: (breathlessly) "Iraq War Sees Bush Approval Rating Plummet," and there's another headline: "Bush 'More Unpopular Than Ever'," and in a recent poll, "57% of Americans say they feel less safe." How can that be? We've not had a single homeland attack in four years, and a poll says Americans feel less safe? You have to ask yourself: Are the people stupid on this or are the poll questions out of order? Do the pollsters ask useful questions to get useful answers? There's an acronym, GIGO: Garbage In; Garbage Out. That's the way you just have to react to these polls -- garbage in, garbage out -- and you know that the garbage in, form letter, poll question, whatever it is, is going to equal the garbage out.

Rush mentioned Free Republic's D.C Chapter on his radio show today! Freeper Bill Floyd was quoted on the inappropriateness of a hospital as a "suitable location for an anti-war demonstration." We're letting the Left know we don't take their assault on our troops lying down.

I listened to Rush's show when he did this piece. It is so true. The left is so out-of-touch with reality, they cannot even see themselves in a mirror!!!

I wonder if the actions of the demonstrators have anything to
do with the moving of the Med Center to another location.

Rush does not know that a soldier who objected to them hanging things on the fence was shoved by a Code PINKO follower a few weeks ago.

People who say we have to understand the motives of those who would kill us, people who ask that we seek root causes and negotiate with terrorists, people who say "War is not the answer" couldn't do that for an American soldier and they laid hands on him.

I wonder if the actions of the demonstrators have anything to do with the moving of the Med Center to another location. Nope. They'll say, "Save Walter Reed" to try and get neighborhood support, but that's about it.

If one proposed that we move the "School of the Americas" to DC on the Walter Reed campus, they soil their Code PINKO panties.

The dems are once again living in the 60's. They can't get over Vietnam. This should turn into another loss for the dems. Fence sitters that aren't sure if the war is worth it or not are absolutely disgusted with the anti-american actions of the left. It didn't take long for the facade of dem troop support faded away to their true feelings. They LOATH the military, period.

Code Pink is in favor of supporting the "insurgents" in Iraq. Hello?

""Don't challenge us! We support the troops; we just don't support the war."

Right from the Left's bag of tricks. It was invented during Vietnam and since it worked then it's being recycled today. How did Americans become so gullible to have believed it?

There's another trick the Left is recycling. Let's also hope it doesn't work again. From an Arnaud de Borchgrave (no conservative) article posted here on FR a few days ago:

"With the Vietcong wiped out in the Tet offensive.... Even Giap admitted in his memoirs that news media reporting of the war and the anti-war demonstrations that ensued in America surprised him. Instead of negotiating what he called a conditional surrender, Giap said they would now go the limit because America's resolve was weakening and the possibility of complete victory was within Hanoi's grasp. "
Analysis: A mini-Tet offensive in Iraq? (How the Left aided the enemy in Vietnam)

But Giap learned the lesson which did become his strategy. He hung in - despite suffering battlefield defeats - and waited for the Left in America to steal a victory for Communism that Giap and his armies couldn't achieve on the ground in Vietnam.

I get the feeling America's enemies in Iraq and the American Left are trying to replay that same script.

No - the closingof Walter Reed has been in the pipeline for years. The f acility is old (opened in 1909) and a new state of art center is being built in Bethesda,MD. VA and DC have been fighting this for years as they will loose jobs.
