SEATTLE - Two soldiers who just returned from a year in Iraq were badly beaten in an attack outside Pioneer Square. But believe it or not, someone caught the beating on videotape. Now, police are asking for your help identifying the suspects.
The brutality of it all was captured on tape outside of Larry's Nightclub on First and Yesler on July 31.
Police say the victims were with two women who'd been groped by the suspects. One of the women threw a hot dog at the suspects and walked away.
They didn't get very far. The three suspects ran after them and began attacking the two men -- two soldiers who'd come home from the war.
The graphic videotape shows both victims getting beaten over and over again, and then after one of the victims loses consciousness, a suspect starts stomping on his head.
Now police want your help in catching these guys.
"We consider them very dangerous," said Seattle Police Officer Sean Whitcomb.
After not getting any leads, Seattle police have just released this tape to the media even though it happened over three weeks ago.
If you know who these suspects are, or have any information in the case, you're asked to call Seattle Police.
Both victims suffered broken jaws, while one suffered a broken arm and both had other broken bones and several bruises.
who would make fun of karate? i wish i knew it.
IMO, the problem started when the word internecine mistakenly made it into English as meaning internal struggle, whereas the inter- in the original latin word was an intensive -- something like 'fought to the death' -- rather than between or among.
The media is using PC marketing euphemisms. In the days of the 78 rpm, record companies marketed "race records". Now they call it "urban". You'll seen need a PC-English dictionary just to survive in this country.
D'oh! Shoulda said, "You'll soon need a PC-English dictionary just to survive in this country."
Reporters are not renowned for letting facts get in the way. Sailor, Marine, and Coastie do not enter their narrow mind. They hear "served in uniform" and immediately write "soldier". Does not really change the fact that some predators beat on men that served, while someone else rolled tape.
These two vets probably feel safer in Bagdad.
Probably not. And any good samaritan laws on the books would not require passersby to get involved in a dangerous situation such as this one.
Karl Rove set this up to give the peace loving war protestors a bad name.
intra-freeping sniping ...
FREEPRACIDE?
That would be Weight Gain 4000.
Total scumbags.
But what about calling for help? I broke up a situation once just by yelling, "POLICE!" at the top of my lungs.
How could the victims have been white? Liberals have been telling me for years the the US military is all poor black kids with no other option.
"dungaree liberty!"
This posted on DU anywhere? I would love to see that thread.
In real life, that's not really how it works. People who don't know each other don't just organize into an effective unit.
Sad thing is, most people don't want to get involved in dangerous situations.
Uncivil War?

Press Release
ASSISTANCE REQUESTED IN IDENTIFYING ASSAILANTS
On July 31, at approximately 2:36 AM, a dispute occurred just outside of Larrys Nightclub in the 200 block of 1st Avenue South. A man touched a woman inappropriately, and when he was confronted by her female acquaintance, he did the same to her. The second womans husband then confronted this individual, and became engaged in a verbal dispute over the incident. The confrontation seemed to be over when this group decided to leave. However, according to one witness, one of the women threw a hot dog at the groping suspect as she left with her friends. This individual gathered two of his friends, and they confronted the other group at 1st Avenue and Yesler Way. A physical fight ensued with three individuals who had been accompanying the women. Two of the three victims sustained injuries requiring hospitalization. Injuries included broken jaws, split lips and possibly a broken arm. A witness videotaped the fight, and we will provide copies of the footage upon request. The assault remains under investigation, and we are seeking assistance in identifying the three suspects.
Suspect 1. Black male, 511, 185 #, wearing a white baseball cap, a white t-shirt, blue jeans and white shoes.
Suspect 2. Black male, late teens to early twenties, 57, 170 #, a black shirt with SCARFACE on it, black pants, gold teeth and cornrows.
Suspect 3. Black male, 60, wearing a red baseball cap and a white t-shirt.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Seattle Police Homicide at 206-684-5550
