Press Release

ASSISTANCE REQUESTED IN IDENTIFYING ASSAILANTS

On July 31, at approximately 2:36 AM, a dispute occurred just outside of Larry’s Nightclub in the 200 block of 1st Avenue South. A man touched a woman inappropriately, and when he was confronted by her female acquaintance, he did the same to her. The second woman’s husband then confronted this individual, and became engaged in a verbal dispute over the incident. The confrontation seemed to be over when this group decided to leave. However, according to one witness, one of the women threw a hot dog at the groping suspect as she left with her friends. This individual gathered two of his friends, and they confronted the other group at 1st Avenue and Yesler Way. A physical fight ensued with three individuals who had been accompanying the women. Two of the three victims sustained injuries requiring hospitalization. Injuries included broken jaws, split lips and possibly a broken arm. A witness videotaped the fight, and we will provide copies of the footage upon request. The assault remains under investigation, and we are seeking assistance in identifying the three suspects.

Suspect 1. Black male, 5’11, 185 #, wearing a white baseball cap, a white t-shirt, blue jeans and white shoes.
Suspect 2. Black male, late teens to early twenties, 5’7, 170 #, a black shirt with “SCARFACE” on it, black pants, gold teeth and cornrows.
Suspect 3. Black male, 6’0, wearing a red baseball cap and a white t-shirt.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Seattle Police Homicide at 206-684-5550

The problem with finding these perps is that the incident occurred over three weeks ago, and the video was just released this week. The thugs have had ample time to move on to another city--maybe yours or mine.

In the videotaped incident where the cops subdued a black teenager in CA, the tapes were televised immediately and ad nauseum.

One of the issues here is the duplicity of the media regarding such incidents, and the political correctness of police departments such as the one in Seattle. For fear of profiling, they do not give out accurate descriptions of persons involved in such assaults. This handicaps the general public in trying to avoid such persons and the places which they frequent, and hinders apprehension of the suspects.

(Did I pass the political corrctness test imposed by some FReepers on the previous thread that was pulled???)
