I've read of meth labs in houses and garages, but a church? This is a first!

Well, it is an unlikely place for a meth lab. Does a meth lab give off a lot of odors that would have given others in the church cause for suspicion?

We seem to have at least 3 or 4 arrests a month around here. Fathers making it in the bathtub while their children are in the other room, people making it in the trunk of the car while driving around. It is very volatile and it must make you pretty brain dead. I'm hoping the new restrictions on sudafed purchases will curb some of it but it literally consumes the people who take it.

The article goes on to say that the ventilation system in the church helped keep the smell down.

Actually, the smell goes up - quickly - if ammonia is the method of manufacture.

What a dumbass in the article - a CHURCH?????

So much for keeping the Lord's home sacred.

Just an aside: Does anybody know how much meth can be made with a package of cold medicine?

I'm curious because of all the new laws coming down the pike limiting you to one or two packages of cold medicine because of the increasing Meth problem. If you buy more the cops will be called to the store. What's up with that?

Seems to me the pills are a highly diluted grade of ephedra and I just can't imagine it being worth your time or cost to make Meth from cold medicine.

Obviously, it's worth their while.

But I'm sick of the rest of us having to adapt ourselves to a bunch of loser meth-heads. Ephedrine and its family are extremely effective for allergy and sinus problems. The substitutes are not.

Why should the rest of us have to do without the legitimate use just because a bunch of freaks are misusing it?

But of course, that goes for our entire society. Why should benches be removed from parks because bums lie on them and harrass regular park users? Arrest the bums or just kick them out and let the regular users take over again; don't punish the rest of us.

Ephedrine or pseudophedrine are key components but it also takes lye, hydrochloric acid, antifreeze, ammonia. A source I read said with a few hundred dollars of investment you can make thousands of dollars of meth.

Thanks. Seems to me you still have to buy a lot more than 1-2 packages of cold medicine, like in case lots, to make a profit.

Stupid druggies ruin it for everybody...the 60's are so over, man.
