In general I'm a defender of the NHC but the 45 kts at the 12 hour position strikes me as a bit silly; it's basically only about 3-4 hours from being back over water now; and that causes the rest of the intensities to be underforecast.
Have never been much of an Avila fan.
LOL,,an Insurance Company hasn't signed on to cover them yet? For some reason, that makes me laugh!
I understand what you are talking about - we get the fleas when we walk out the door or in the door.
Still a Cane and at 984 MB. Look for Cat 3 Saturday morning.
I haven't been to Pensecola in YEARS, but it was beautiful.
And the Gulf is warmer than a bathtub right about now...
I seem to remember that the Airpost at Atlanta goes nuts with anything,,,having been there hundreds of times.
I'm afraid you might be right. It's been sucking power out of the Everglades like a straw; when it hits the bathtub temp water of the Gulf, all bets are off.
Richard Nixons ghost is rattling. Isn't Bay Biscayne where he had his house and Bebe Reboza used to visit. Strange pair, those two.
uh oh....my sister and bil live just north of Panama City...
From radar, she's halfway across Florida, much faster than I expected. At this rate she'll be out into the Gulf, not much weaker before daylight.
Yep. This weekend is gonna be a character builder for a lot of folks...
Bay Biscayne... isn't that just north of Coral Gables?
I'm watching WTVJ's feed now; their weatherman says that it's less than 25 miles from the Gulf right now.
I hate having my character built. It is done, finished, as good as it is ever going to be.
I think we're safe for a storm now anyway. Half the leaves have already fallen off the trees, not much left to catch the wind.
45kts does seem low... especially considering how slowly it has weakened thus far. If it exits as soon as it seems it will, it should be stronger than that. If she manages to linger, maybe..
From WTVJ: NHC says a CAT 2 by overnight Fri/Sat.
BTW did anyone note the name of the hunky fox weatherman with the tan. He was quite the cutie
BTW, Bibles are great in hurricanes.
